I had a wonderful experience with Backyard Living. They built an absolutely beautiful deck for me. The quality is amazing. Also they were very responsive, answered all questions and took care of everything from start to finish. Even my township workers commented on how friendly and pleasant they all are (since they applied for my permits for me). Great work and great people - I highly recommend them.

We replaced an elevated wood deck with a composite deck. Half of the new deck is screened with a peaked roof. We called four contractors for this project. Two failed to bid. Of the two estimates we received, Backyard Livingâ s matched our ideas exactly and was more competitive. The deck looks great, and it is square, plumb, level, and rock solid. The project was completed on schedule and in budget. Mel and the crew came on time, worked steadily all day, and cleaned up every night. They treated my family and property with respect. We highly recommend them for this type of work.

Our old deck was falling apart and Mel came and replaced it with a bigger improved deck of composite for a very fair price. It came out great. Would hire them again.

Mel and his crew completed our deck yesterday and I'm glad to report complete satisfaction. They are punctual, proficient and professional and the deck could support a herd of elephants. If you seek quality and attention to detail, call this contractor first.

I also talked with and got estimates from a few other professionals and also considered having a very skillful handyman do the job. When Mel came to do the estimate, he immediately identified several important issues both in terms of how the previous (now rotting) deck had been constructed and my design for the new deck. Clearly, I wanted to hire someone with his eye for detail! His work was timely and attentive to detail. He noticed some uprights and a crossbeam that needed to be replaced or moved; these had not been included in his estimate. He did not charge extra for these items. He moved the steps to protect a rose bush, adding two additional steps; he did not charge extra. I would hire Mel for any other job within his competency. (Thank you, Mel!!!) Oh, and yes, a pleasure to have him and his men on the job.

They work so hard and our deck is perfect. We are very pleased and delighted with the finished project. From start to finish all of our questions were answered in a timely fashion and their work is perfect in every way. I will highly recommend them to anyone one who is doing any kind of building. Mel and his team are awesome.

Mel was a pleasure to work with! We were looking at replacing our deck for three years, and when we finally made the decision to move forward, Backyard Living made our final decision very easy. Mel's ideas with the color selection, the deck design, and the lighting selection, made the vision of our backyard living space come alive! We made our final decision in mid December 2018, and because of the time of year, a space in Mel's schedule, and the nice Winter weather, Mel started a week later. Mel handled the PA1 call, and the appropriate permits and inspections. When Spring 2019 arrived, Mel and Ben were back to complete the final grading and seeding. From start to finish, everything went very smoothly. Our final deck design consisted of TimberTech Tropical decking and facia, and Westbury aluminum railing with the Magena Star Ornamental Post Cap Lighting. Our deck is gorgeous during the day, and sparkles during the night! We are extremely pleased with Backyard Living's work, and would recommend them to anyone interested in a deck project!

Excellent duo. Mel finished our composite deck project in Nov/Dec way ahead of schedule (originally scheduled for Jan) . Job was very well done. He was even patient with us when we decided to change our post lights. They cleaned up well after the job was done. Reasonable pricing.

Mel is easy to work with. He listened to my questions and made suggestions. He did more than I originally requested. His price was very reasonable and he got the job finished beautifully in an amazingly short time. I am very pleased and would recommend Back Yard Living to anyone.
