Hoy Transfer Inc

Monday morning came and they were a couple hours late with the moving van. When I contacted Hoy Transfer, they informed me they did not have enough movers to bring my furniture and belongings. Apparently, most of the employees were at the county fair. I had to remind Hoy Transfer that I had a binding contract with them for delivery on that date. Eventually, the moving truck came. The movers broke three antiques pieces among my belongings. Part of the agreement was that they were to assemble my beds after delivery. They neglected to bring tools for the task, and I had to rummage through the delivery to find the necessary tools. I would not refer anyone to them.

Assured me that the discount through Penn State would apply to me and told me that they serviced my area. I showed the guy from the company everything i needed moved. They told me that it would not be a problem, but then they tried to charge me more to move my things. They showed up with a moving van that was half full of other peoples things, and my things would not fit in the van. They told me they were sending another van for the rest of my stuff. They tried to tell me that I would have to pay $10,000 more than the original estimate. I told them that i would not pay that, and they said they would just put my stuff in storage then. Once they finally got my stuff to my home in Colorado, they threw trash on the road my house sits on. They also broke my grandfather's clock and damaged many other things.

I received an estimate from Hoy for approximately $900 - $1000 to move my belongings from one rental to another - with the fee based on an hourly rate.  The movers showed up with a small truck, and clearly it was going to take multiple trips to move my belongings (and additional money).  I was told by members of the crew that none of them were licensed to drive larger trucks.  I immediately emailed the man who gave me the estimate to complain about the small truck and the resulting number of trips it would take.  There was no response. 



I do not know which of the four young men was in charge.  One of the young men complained constantly and maintained a steady stream of bad language.  They would not move my television (a small flat screen) and some lamps because they said they didn't have any way to pack them safely for the cross-town trip.  



We made two trips (including my fully loaded SUV each time), and even though there were still items left at my original residence, the crew called it quits.  It is my assumption that due to my complaint about the extra time it would take because of the small moving truck, they were told to cut it short as soon as they accumulated $900-$1000 in expenses.  I told them there were still items at the house I was moving out of and they refused to go back for a third trip.  It's taken approximately 12 more trips in an SUV and borrowed pickup to get the rest of the items.



I suppose this is an example of getting what you paid for.  Very disappointed

We moved 3 days ago and they packed everything well. There was no damage to any of our belongings. They arrived on time and the staff was very pleasant.

I was not happy with their service. Having worked in the navy, they had stored some of my goods at the navy storage facility so that they could collect an additional storage fee. They also use college students as their movers.

From the initial contact just a few weeks prior to the move, to the moving and delivery days on August 10th and 11th, everything was handled professionally and courteously. I received advance notice of when to expect the truck and it arrived both days exactly on time. Both movers were complete artists in removal, cooperatively coaxing heavy pieces around corners and down stairs without brushing the walls. They were a marvel to watch. And both were pleasant and very, very careful, as if moving the crown jewels instead of old furniture. The price quoted was fair, and it was exactly what I was charged to the penny.

They stole things- digital cable box, DVD/VCR combo, Cables. They were late, they left for an hour and half during the middle of the move- probably to get the stuff they lifted off the truck. They didn't disassemble the cribs and tried to squeeze them through the doors until I gave them tools. They forgot their tools. Didn't re-assemble the cribs and tried to leave. Left my couch cushions outside in the rain- They left 60 things behind in the property we were moving from and didn't go back to them, causing us to make about 15 trips to gather the remaining boxes. Then at 10pm that night I finally went to bed and it fell apart! NEVER USE THESE PEOPLE EVER!!!!
