FOUR DAYS LATER…..I got in my car to go to work and when I stepped on the gas pedal, it felt like the car was hesitating to accelerate. I also heard a loud flapping noise. I thought maybe a belt got thrown off. I took the car back to have it checked and I’ll admit I was FURIOUS after spending almost $2000 to get everything fixed up nicely. Lonnie Hart, who has been there for much longer than I’ve been going there has always been trustworthy and honest. I’ve never known him to lie, period! The car was taken in and checked. The belts were checked and they were fine. Because of the age of my car, my car will not always communicate with the computerization. It may give error codes and sometimes it simply won’t. This also happens at the dealership where I bought it so it’s not Firestone. The engine seemed to be misfiring. The spark plugs were changed and that didn’t fix the issue. Lonnie called and asked of they could hold the car so that the technician who was more experienced at this type of problem could look at it the next day. Lonnie also reserved and PAID for me to have a RENTAL CAR. I agreed. Cylinders 2 and 5 had some major issues most likely due to a coolant and/or oil leak. The parts needed were ordered and brought in and the cylinders were repaired. That still didn’t fix the issue. Keeping in mind that they were working half blind and they were working mostly by visual inspection, patience became a massive virtue and my anxiety was up. I needed to stay calm. After that didn’t work, Lonnie called me to give me an update. It got to the point where the technician was taking apart the engine and finding so many issues from coolant leaks, oil leaking and other things. It was determined that the car needed to have a new engine put in it. Lonnie had already located one and ordered it. It took a couple of days to get the engine and then it had to be put into the car. Lonnie explained it as the car needing “a transplant.” Since I’m a nurse, he knew which analogy to use to make it all understandable. Today, I picked up the car and Lonnie and I went for a drive. We were listening to the car at a wide array of speeds. I could feel it in the gas pedal that this car had a new engine since the response to stepping on the gas pedal felt like a new or newer car. Any heavier idling that the car may have had before appears to be gone. I took the car out on the nearby bypass and opened her up. Smooth! For now, I’ll have about a week of close listening and watching as my car adjusts to its “transplant.” And here’s the part you do NOT know yet about this review: the GRAND TOTAL of the work done to the car was $2,713.49. And……Firestone did ALL of the work at NO CHARGE!

I have an 02 Subaru, Firestone always does great work by me. I'm a girl in my mid- 20's so I don't know much about cars. Their always open and honest and explanatory about what needs done. In mid June I took my car in for a burning smell. They got me in quickly and told me what was going on. Broken CB boots that were flinging oil on my axel shafts causing a burning smell. Once I gave them the OK to do the work they started. They sent me home and brought me back Free via taxi! Who likes to sit at the mechanics? I don't not on my very few days off. I picked up my car and went home a few days later I noticed a popping sound. Took it back to firestone they went for a ride with me to get the sound to replicate this took about 15 mins the sound was stubborn with an audience. The left axle had a bad factory weld on it that didn't show up until it was driven for a few days. The axle shaft on the left needed again. They replaced the part free of charge to me. Once again I was taken home and back free of charge. I took my car again and a few days later heard the sound again Ahh! Took it back again. They went for a ride with me got the sound to make once again stubborn! I was offered again to be taken home I declined wanted to do some shopping in the plaza and it was a beautiful day out. The left axel shaft needed replaced again once again free of charge. This time they got a different brand part from a different distrubutor. I took the car and every thing was good until a few days later I heard a grinding plastic sound when I would turn it was getting worse so I took it back in on labor day the guy watched for me to come out jumped in my car to go for a ride to replicate the sound, couldn't identify the sound had another guy go for a ride he wasn't sure what the sound was either. They got my car up on the lift and saw immediatly what the issue was a pin fell out that held the plastic protector for my under carriage in place. They replaced it free of charge I was in and out in a matter of minutes. Everything has been perfectly fine since then. They are always very forthcoming with any charges what is wrong and will be more then happy to show you exactly what needs done even if you know nothing about cars. They always talk to my dad about the problems so he knows what is getting done. I will continue to go to Firestone for my care problems.
