Tish has lived and worked in the area forever and her knowledge of the various neighborhoods and the housing market here was invaluable. She has a long-standing relationship with a great home inspector who knows the houses around here inside out and spotted several potential problems which she was able to convince the sellers to fix.
The most amazing thing she did, though, was getting the house ready for the grant inspectors. The township is picky about paint: they'll deny a grant application if the house you want to buy has ANY peeling or damaged paint. Well, there was a bit on the roofline, in one of the closets, and around the front door. Tish not only hired a professional painter to sand and touch up the roofline paint (at a very low cost), but also went to the house herself and did the closet and the front door. She even got several different cans of paint so the colors would be an exact match! How many real estate agents would be willing to spend their spare time painting a closet for you?
End result: I found my dream home, got a great mortgage rate AND the Upper Darby grant, plus the peace of mind of knowing my house was in excellent condition when I moved in.
The final reason you should choose Tish has to do with personality. I made the mistake of starting my home search before I had an agent, and every time I arrived at a showing alone the seller's agent's face would light up with evil predatory glee. They would usually start pressuring me to make a snap decision, ask for my email address and add me to annoying mailing lists, give me all kinds of double-talk, and generally behave like used car salesmen. You could practically see the little dollar signs dancing in their eyes. Tish was different. She was helpful and informative, never pushy. She listened to what I said and gave straight answers to my questions. When I told her I had decided against the house she was showing me, she was very gracious about it. Later, when I realized I did need an agent, I went back to her solely because she had been so pleasant to work with. It turned out to be a brilliant decision.
