HERE'S THE PLAN

I first made contact with Ron the latter part of 2020 to discuss converting our garage into a living space for my Mom. Ron was very helpful when we first spoke & encouraged us to not waste our time trying to get variances & permits on a job the township would most likely not approve. So, we decided to add a 2nd floor to the main house instead. Fast forward to February 2021 & we met with Emilio to discuss what we wanted so they could start the plans to get our permits for the build. We were initially told the entire process on their end would take about 8 weeks & we'd have something to look at within 6 weeks. We didn't hear from anyone until mid to late April & only because I initiated contact. It took just under 4 months to complete the plans! Hey, I get it, these are tough times we live in, but how about communicating with your customers along the way so we're not just left hanging in the wind. Our General Contractor turned over the plans to the township immediately to start the approval process, but in late August 2021 I received a letter from Code Inspections denying our permits. They provided a list of items that needed to be addressed by the Architect before they would approve our permits. Our General Contractor immediately reached out to Ron & was told he'd take care of it. 1 week goes by - nothing. 2 weeks - nothing. I start reaching out to Emilio mid September & am told Ron is taking care of it. I made certain when making final payment to ask if there were any issues with getting our permits based on their work, would they address those issues without any additional fees & was told YES. Thanks to the due diligence of my General Contractor & his outstanding relationship with our township, after a lot of phone calls & leg work, he was able to get our permits approved. We NEVER heard back from Ron or anyone else at Here's The Plan. They completely turned their backs on us & if it weren't for my General Contractor, I would have had to pay another architect more $ to fix the issues the township wanted addressed or I would still be sitting here waiting on Ron. Thankfully, the construction part of our project is now complete & we just passed our Final Inspection on 1/19/22 & we just started the painting phase of our renovation today (1/21/22). I wish Ron & everyone at Here's The Plan all the best & hope my comments can help them to provide a better service to the community.

Their use of deadlines was abominable. It was horrible. Their prices were very good. The work itself was good. It was just the deadlines. It just really messed up our whole project for an addition. He wouldn't return my calls, it was horrible. I feel bad because his work was okay and his price was good, it was just horrible. He said it was going to be done in three weeks, it took like two months. Every step, he needed plans to be re-approved and re-approved.

I can't say enough good things about Ron. He is professional, extremely knowledgeable, and overall a pleasure to work with. We met three times to ensure the final plans were exactly what I was looking for. He always listened to my needs and provided creative and thoughtful ideas. Ron is also providing us with contractor referrals. I would highly recommend working with Ron and I will definitely use him in the future.

Here's the Plan was recommended by a neighbor. Ron answered the phone the first time I called and made an appointment for just a week later. When he arrived, he toured our home and listened sympathetically to our tale of woe. He showed us photos of other homes/additions he had designed. And we had toured our neighbor's renovation that Ron designed that was beautiful. We could tell right away that he was perfect for our job. We had an existing one-story addition that needed drastic remodeling. We wanted to add a second floor master bedroom and master bath. We had a weird toilet/sink located in the heater room off the kitchen that we wanted to remove as well as figure out a place for a powder room. We also wanted to create a doorway into the addition from the front of the house. Ron was great to work with. Very down-to-earth. He listened to our ideas and was able to offer wonderful suggestions to make our ideas even better. And problems that we thought were insurrmountable, were solved brilliantly. He brought the first plans back as promised within two weeks. He was always agreeable to the changes we wanted. I think he produced changed plans, maybe three or four times in total. Ron conferred with the builder we chose to refine the plans and then produced the official plans for the township. The township did not have any changes to the plans, which our builder told us was unusual. They were approved as is. During construction, a few issues came up. Ron was always available to the builders without additional charge and those issues were quickly resolved. I'm writing this review in our newly renovated addition. We love it! I never really liked our house -- it's a standard 3-bedroom colonial. But this renovation has completely transformed our home. It's like getting a new home without having to move! There are so many lovely design touches -- especially the windows upstairs and downstairs. And the new entrance into the addition from the front of the house is just beautiful. So many homes in our area have additions that look like boring big boxes -- no charm, no creativity, no beauty. I am delighted that we ended up with a charming design that we are extremely proud of. And that garners many compliments!

I was hesitant when I received Ron's name because I had never heard of him or seen any of his work but I was impressed when he came with a portfolio. I have contacted several architects and none of them offered a portfolio of his work. He is personable and makes you feel that he really loves what he is doing and makes the extra effort to present the best possible alternatives to what you may have in mind for your project. He is full of great ideas and suggestions which I would have not thought of. I was very pleased with the end result and he was more than happy to listen to my concerns and explained whether or not they were feasible with the addition. We have submitted the plans to the township and await their reply so that we can begin construction.
