General Remodeling
Craig E. Hoover provided the most responsible, highest quality
work of any contractor we have used in the last forty years, during which we
have lived in five different homes. (Each home we have lived in was an
upgrade, due in part to remodeling and sale.)
Note: Craig E. Hoover is not Hoover Builders. They are
separate entities.
Last Fall we decided to re-do our master bathroom. We
called Plumbing Masters (whom we heartily recommend), and they set us up with
Craig. Craig organized and expertly ran the process. The electric
work was done by Bower Electric (whom we also highly recommend), the painting
was by Foster Painting & Wallpapering (the best painters we have ever
used). After the remodel, we had Steve from Foster do additional interior
painting.
The cost, at approx. $23,000, might seem high, but it was
worth every dollar. Sometimes there were contractors, tilers,
electricians, painters, and plumbers all working at the same time. They
were all consistently professional and highly competent. The job took a
month, but it was not a great inconvenience to us, even though the master bath
is adjacent to our bedroom.
Craig oversaw and coordinated every aspect of the work.
Alterations were made to lighting, a new hole in the roof was constructed
for a terrific fan system, wallpaper was stripped. But the biggest job
was the shower remodel. The ceiling was raised, the size of the shower
expanded, tiles and fixtures were ordered, etc., etc. And, it was all
smooth. We were amazed at the courtesy and consideration given us, and
we are not necessarily the "easiest" customers to please.
Changes were accommodated, requests were honored. In the end, we
were completely satisfied. Except for one thing, which no one noticed
right away.
The shower floor tiles which we had selected, turned out to
be too large for the floor slope, and had some protruding edges. Not
good. We informed Craig, and the floor tiles were replaced with smaller
ones and the problem was solved, at no extra charge to us. This is big, as
the profit margin of the contractor was diminished. Craig's well-done,
detailed contract stipulated "guaranteed customer satisfaction," and
he honored that without hesitation.
We love our shower and bathroom. Not all of these
contractors are in the book, they don't need to be. We feel very
fortunate to have had such a positive experience in a world where "the
buck" is often more important than the product.
