Overall was extremely impressed by Dr. Goodell and staff. I took my dog for her annual physical and she and I were immediately greeted when we entered. Dr. Goodell and the staff got down on the floor and calmed my dog.
Dr. Goodell did a thorough exam and explained her findings. She also discussed my dogs weight and discussed it in a calm manner with helpful suggestions. You could tell she and the staff enjoyed their work and love animals.
They called that evening to tell me of her test results and answered one of my questions. Dr. Goodell called the next morning wit the answer to my second question.
I felt the cost of the services were fairly priced.
I highly recommend First Companion and so happy I found them. My dog and I have found a new place for our veterinary needs

I have a German Shepherd and love taking her to this vet. The staff is nice and courteous and not afraid to get on the floor to sit and be friendly w/ my dog. They are very update on the latest medicines and issues and are very professional. This is a very clean office and I rarely have to wait when I make an appointment.
I was also impressed when I received a call past closing hours (probably around 8 pm) from the Doctor giving me some updates on some shots that I was waiting to hear an answer on.
I definitely recommend this vet....

I am somewhat new to the South Hills area, and I had to switch vets for various reasons. I took my older, temperamental chow mix to Companions First Veterinary Clinic because he was having issues with and quot;hot spotsand quot; (basically he chewed his tail area raw). From the time we walked into the office until we left the staff was caring, patient with my unwilling pup, and genuinely wanted to help. When the tech took us into the exam room she sat on the floor with my dog and asked me a series of questions. She tried to make him comfortable even though he hid behind my legs the entire time. Then Dr. Leia came in to examine him. She too sat on the floor with him and coaxed him out of hiding. He did snap at her once, but she continued examining him while talking to him and petting him. (She did not immediately resort to muzzling him.) I was very pleased with the service we received and the outcome. It was clear to me that everyone working there is an animal lover!
I even called back the next day with questions that I didn't ask during the visit. The tech was extremely helpful and personable. The questions she was unable to answer she asked the vet and called me back. I am very comfortable taking my dog back for additional care as needed.
The entire visit was about $150. This included an exam, scraping his skin to look for bacteria, having his hot spots shaved and cleaned, and filling three prescriptions.

I arrived at the vet appointment 5 minutes early and was immediately taken into an exam room. The vet tech, Jayne, took my dog, Calvin's, history and gave him treats to make him feel comfortable. After Jayne left we waited only minutes before Dr. Goodell came into the room. Dr. Goodell greeted me and Calvin, then sat on the floor so Calvin could check her out. Dr. Goodell explained the benefits and risks of each vaccine and answered any questions I had. Dr Goodell scratched Calvin's backs and received licks to her face in thanks. Dr. Goodell started her physical exam by allowing Calvin to smell her stethoscope prior to putting it on him, this small gesture prevents a lot of anxiety in my dog. Dr. Goodell also did the same thing with the instruments used to look in his eyes and ears. Jayne return to the exam room with the vaccines and assisted Dr. Goodell with giving them. Jayne distracted Calvin with treats and scratches so well that he didn't even turn around to see who was poking him. This is the third time I have taken my dog to this vet and I have taken my other pets here as well, I cannot praise them enough.I can honestly say my dog enjoys going to this vet. I have never waited more then 5 minutes in the waiting room, the prices are consistent, and mostly the people are very nice. I highly recommend this vet clinic for all your pets, including small pets.

Dr. Goodell is a wonderful vet. I used to see her at another practice and came right back to her when she opened her own practice back in my area. She has always been wonderful with all of my animals. She is great at getting to the source of any issue and always explains in detail all issues my animals have had and treatment courses recommended. I would recommend her to anyone.
