Asphalt Driveway Service
$4,000
This was by far our worst experience with home repair. We were promised full attention and a job that would not only look beautiful, but would last for years. Instead, we had an infuriating 7 months and a driveway and sidewalk that looks like Frankenstein's monster and is proceeding to deteriorate after only one season. We were told that the job would take 7 days, but the work was started in March of last year, and the contract is still open. Here is a list of the ineptitude and disrespect we had to endure as a result of hiring All American Curb Appeal: 1. The owner of the company (Eric McGrath) would sporadically show up at odd times (often past 3 in the afternoon). When he showed up it would only be for brief spurts of time. He NEVER worked a full day on site and even did driveway work in the pouring rain and the dark. 2. On multiple occasions, we had to wait more than a month for him to show up/make contact; he was unresponsive to texts, phone calls, and emails. We recently reached out to him to finish the job, and he was once again unresponsive. That was almost one month ago (July 30). 3. The owner would send workers who did not have the experience to handle the type of work that he assigned to them. As a result, the workers cut open a buried gutter leading to a sewer pipe (which we paid to have pumped and sealed) and did not properly align the pavers with the asphalt on the driveway. 4. The owner did not follow proper protocol when subcontracting work to asphalt our sidewalk. As a result we have an uneven sidewalk. He admitted to the inferiority of the product and his disappointment with the final result in October of last year. 5. We often had to endure long periods of time of not being able to park in our driveway as well as the embarrassment of the unsightly work itself, WITH WHICH WE ARE STILL DEALING ON A DAILY BASIS. 6. The job site would always need to be cleaned up after he left. For example, pavers were left out in the sidewalk where pedestrians could trip, and they were also exposed to theft. We had to physically move them on more than one occasion. This literally took hours of time. 7. Eric chain smoked and blew dust all over the neighborhood. In addition, his wife and children were frequently at the job site while Eric worked. He was not a professional by any means. 8. Eric had no control over his workers. According to him, on multiple occasions the workers were supposed to be on site when they were not. 9. The owner frequently complained about the complexity of the job that he pitched and on more than one occasion added more money to the contract, which we foolishly paid. Our final conclusion is that All American Curb Appeal lacks the experience, skills, and the motivation to complete the jobs that are promised to their customers.
