Not well. Needed to return to finish getting all the insulation out prior to the mold being removed from the attic. The salesman was great. When I called about the work not being done properly, he came out and was not pleased with what he saw. Had the crew come back but this held up the next process.

[Member Name Removed], our project manager Sean came out to inspect the work and brought to your attention that our crew had missed some areas and we would need to come back out. We immediately sent a crew back out the next morning to take care of it and made sure it was 100% before we left. You told the crew and Sean that you were completely satisfied with the work. Sean also stopped back out and re-inspected the attic as well. We are not always perfect, but we caught our own mistake and corrected it immediately without holding up your mold remediation crew. We also gave you a credit back on your invoice for the inconvenience of us coming back for a second trip. I'm sorry that you were not completely satisfied with the process and we'll certainly do better at catching our mistakes while still onsite in the future. Best regards, John Cunningham, President

After Sean inspected our attic he said overall the attic was insulated well. He then looked at the basement and said we really did not need his services. We were in my husband's work room in the basement and Sean said my husband could complete the little work that could benefit us to air seal exposed band joists in the basement. I was impressed with Sean's honesty, clear explanation of why I feel a little cold in certain areas of the house, even though overall our house is properly insulated. He gave good information to share with my husband on how to go about sealing the band joists with Home Depot spray foam ?.not difficult work and inexpensive! I think Sean went above and beyond. Once he realized there wasn't a job at our home for him, Sean still took his time answering my many questions and was very professional. I highly recommend this company and normally do not take the time to write a review.

They were very professional and spent a lot time answering my questions. I had many questions and they returned my phone calls quickly. The price was reasonable and less than another company I contacted. We ended up not using the product and went with a traditional less expensive insulation because I had a few remaining concerns as I was informed that a new product would be coming out in the fall. There are some controversies over possible problems with the foam insulation, but as the company stated, "if the foam is installed properly, there are no issues". From my research I could not find any issues with this company's installation procedure. We were going to use the foam insulation in a young child's room in a new addition and choose not to use the product as we needed it done before the new product was on the market. I would recommend them and they are willing to give you references from other satisfied customers.

Maybe one of the best companies I have ever dealt with. Professional, responsive, thorough, and detailed. If the phone was not answered by the owner, I was called back within a minute or two. I wish all companies were run like AGL SprayFoam. They arrived when they said, finished what they quoted, and provided exactly what they said they would. They spent as much time with me as needed to make sure I understood what they were providing and the benefit I would receive. This company is fantastic and would have no problem recommending them to anyone. John, Sean and team, a job well done!

Performed attic cleanout, baffle installation, and foam insulation. They recommended an open cell unvented roof application, but instead went with closed cell coat of attic floor and walls with addition of cellulose on top. Thorough cleanout, good application. Very pleased with the results.

From the estimate process to the actual service, we were extremely satisfied with both the company and the product. This is the second time we have used AGL Spray Foam for services. They had previously spray foamed our entire third floor including the walls and under the roof and we were pleased with those results as well. It was refreshing to deal with such a professional company that provided the results they had promised.
Description of Work: We had gutted the interior of our home for renovation and discovered that we had uninsulated space in our living room where the ceiling joists continued out to our wrap-around porch but without any separation at all. AGL Spray Foam used open celled foam to fill all of the cavities in addition to having our basement band joists filled with open celled foam.

Our house was built in 1951. All first floor walls are either cinder-block or mortared in place stacked stone. These walls were then studded out with 2x4s in direct contact with the block, without insulation or vapor barrier in the wall. We did a complete gut on our kitchen and living room (sequentially), exposing two of these walls along the front and rear of the house. I had a general contractor who did all the demo and renovations and in the bid I specifically asked for closed-cell foam in the 2x4 cavities (and sill plates). Closed cell foam provides an air and vapor barrier as well as higher R/value per inch than fiberglass bats or rigid foam board. The general contractor wasn't particularly informed about spray foam (whereas I had done significant research...my father being an insulation engineer at a large petro-chemical company), so I began a search for sub-contractors. There are very few local companies who do spray foam, and it is of the utmost importance for the integrity of the foam (and health of the residents) that spray foam be professionally installed. I narrowed it down to two top-notch local companies (using Angie's List and web searches) and had the general contractor contact John at AGL. A good friend of the family had used them for some spray foam work on his daughter's fixer-upper. We did the job sequentially, AGL sprayed the kitchen in late August, we finished the kitchen renovation, moved to the living room, and AGL just came back in late November and sprayed the living room wall. All the workers were very professional and courteous, and most of all efficient. I was very impressed with John's knowledge of the product, and his knowledge of thermo-engineering and sealing the building (thermal) envelope. Everything was handled with the utmost of care, from the initial walk-thru and bid right up until the actual spraying. When it comes time for us to renovate the unfinished basement, or do any work where exterior walls are exposed, we will absolutely use AGL again. Close cell spray foam is the insulating product to have for exposed exterior walls, and AGL is the contactor you want to install it!

Sean was great as a salesman. He was informative and professional. The spray guys were also on time, professional, and did a great job. The only reason I am putting a B for price was because spray foam is so expensive. However, our house is considerably warmer and I feel it is well worth the investment if you stay in your home for a while.

From start to finish AGL and their employees were impressive. I interviewed three companies, all from Angies list, and AGL was by far the most impressive. Their suggestions on how to proceed with this type of insulation, when starting from scratch on a renovation, were both educational and money saving. Sean Kennedy who bid the job was a pleasure to deal with from beginning to end. He followed the progress of the work start to finish. The actual guys who sprayed the insulation were both gentleman, courteous and considerate of my property and obviously very interested in doing a great job. I was so impressed with this company that I have reccomended them to my employer for them to handle the insulation on new construction that I represent in center city Philadelphia.

From the salesman to scheduling and final install everything went smoothly. Competitive pricing, friendly service, on time. Job ran a little over for the day and it was very hot out (no AC in house) so they came back early the next morning to clean everything up which was great. Highly recommended, would definitely do business with again in the future. Spray foam is the way to go and this is the company to use!

Our "finished" basement had been built without insulation prior to our having moved into our home 2 1/2 years ago. In preparation for creating a man cave for my husband, I decided to deal with the lack of insulation before adding any bells and whistles to the space. I knew we wanted to go with closed cell foam and found AGL on Angie's List. When I first spoke to John the owner, I was relieved to find out that we did not have to remove all of the drywall in order to gain access to the cinder block foundation walls. I arranged to have Sean come out and give me an estimate. When Sean saw that the interior room ceiling was right up against the metal floor of the garage, he explained that the ceiling would have to come down as well as a portion of that room's outer wall. While not thrilled with more demo work needing to be done, I knew it was the right approach as Sean explained very clearly. I received the estimate later the same day and it was in line with what I anticipated. Work was scheduled based on my availability and was completed all in one day because a third man twas added o the crew to accomplish both demo and foam installation in a single day. Initially, Sean had thought it would be a two day job. I was extremely pleased to have it take only one day as my two dogs were holed up in one room the whole time. All three of the crew members, Rob, Tom and Tommy were great. From backing the truck down my street in the wrong direction to running the hoses through my garage rather than my front door to allowing me to check on progress and take a few photographs along the way, not to mention that it rained until just before they left, they did a terrific job. Given that drywall had to be torn out, there was very little dust after the crew left in the afternoon. The crew covered every area they worked in as well as my foyer floor and stairs leading down to the basement. It's two days post installation and the temps have dipped into the 30's. There is a noticeable difference in the temperature in my basement and this is before having the drywall replaced and closing up the walls and ceiling. The interior room has no duct work to heat or cool it and this space is definitely warmer than it had been prior to insulating. Another benefit is that the room right above the basement that has two outside walls is now warmer due to the band joist having been insulated. I couldn't believe how much warmer that room feels now after being cold every winter. I could not be happier with the job AGL Spray Foam did in my home and am looking forward to having the company do my roof when it needs replacing.

Overall the process went good. I spoke with John and he asked me to email him my dimensions and some pictures of the basement. He then called me back and quoted me a special price do to it being a row home. The day of the appointment his crew arrived and told them what walls I wanted sprayed then they covered my windows with plastic film and also draped a painted wall with plastic so the foam would not drip on it. then proceeded to spray the walls from floor to ceiling after it was all done they cleaned up and left, Basement feels warmer than it did before.

I originally called AGL towards the beginning of my renovation to try to get estimates in place. I was told that they really couldn't give me an accurate estimate until the house was gutted, so it was worth waiting until then. When I contacted them later, they were very responsive and got Sean out to my house in a fairly short time to work on my estimate. Sean was very polite and I believe even showed up a little early. He went through the house to take measurements, answering my questions regarding the products and application, and was not in a rush to get out of there. He mentioned that with fiberglass batts I would only be able to get up to an R-13 value on my exterior walls, whereas open celled foam would get me to an R-16. We discussed the fact that I would like to keep open the option to finish my attic at another time so did not want the insulation to come into the space too much. Sean mentioned that he would contact my borough to find out what their code requires in terms of insulation values and said to expect an estimate in a couple of days. The first estimate I received (which is described above) mentioned an R-value of only -13 for the exterior walls (as opposed to the -16 he had mentioned during the walk through), and an application of 9" of open celled foam on my roof line which would impede my ability to finish that space eventually. He had also told me that my township requires an R-value of -38 for the roof/second floor ceiling and that the 9" of open cell foam or thinner amount of closed cell foam which would cost more was necessary to meet this requirement. Unfortunately he must have told me this over the phone because I can't seem to find it in writing. Meanwhile I talked to my contractor and found out that the township does have a requirement of R-38, but only for new construction. As an existing structure, I only need to go up to R-30. Well at this point I had agreed to get an estimate from a company that does fiberglass batts and they were able to get me R-13 for the walls and R-30 for the second floor ceiling for a total cost of under $1900. I do believe that spray foam has benefits over fiberglass, but we are talking up to 4-times the cost here. The rest of my renovation is already pricey enough as it is, and I didn't see where the foam was going to give me so much added benefit over the fiberglass to be worth this extremely large price difference. Sean was great about answering my questions throughout and even sent me articles to help explain some of the research behind their methods (ask them about why attic ventilation is not as important as we maybe think). My decision not to use AGL came down to three main factors: 1) I couldn't justify the high cost of spray foam for similar stated R-values, 2) I felt like I was deceived when it came to my township requirements and if I had never found out what the requirements actually were through other channels, I might have agreed to do more than was really required, and 3) I didn't feel that my requests to treat the attic space in a way that would be conducive to making it living space later were really listened to, necessitating revised estimates to give me what I was asking for in the first place. Ultimately I indicated above that I would recommend this company because they do have good reviews from others that had work done, but I do have to say that my gut feeling about them during this process was not a good one.
Description of Work: I had my 104 year old Victorian home gutted all the way down to the studs and contacted AGL to get an estimate for insulation on all exterior walls of my home as well as either the 2nd floor ceiling or the roof line. The original quote I received was for 3" of open cell foam applied to exterior walls at a total of 1467 sq ft (R-13), 9" of open cell to the underside of the roof - 1103 sq ft (R-38), 3" open cell to the gable end walls of attic - 180 sq ft, 3" open cell to basement band joist - 104 sq ft, and ignition barrier in the attic. If I wanted to use closed cell foam on exterior walls instead, I would get an R-value of -21 and it would cost an additional $2641 (~$9200 total).

Response from AGL Spray Foam Insulation
Member, The code very clearly states that attic R-values for ALL homes in this climate zone should be R-38, not just new construction. Unfortunately your contractor is not correct on that point. However, it is true that based on your framing size you could only have fit R-30 in fiberglass - which is what allows you the exception to the code if you're using that product. Because we DO have the ability to offer the R-38 with spray foam it was the correct recommendation from my estimator Sean. I'm sorry that you felt deceived by this and I wish that Sean was more clear with you on that. We did revise the quote to reflect apples to apples R-values of R-30 in the attic and R-13 in the walls, which came out to be $5189 - only 2.5 times as expensive as the fiberglass quote. Foam is a much more efficient product and is always going to be more expensive. I'm sorry you were not 100% satisfied with our performance and wish you the best of luck with the rest of your renovation project! John Cunningham, Owner

Pleasant experience from start to finish. John runs a very professional business. The crew arrived on time. They did an excellent job applying the spray foam despite the heat. They cleaned up and left the area spotless. Hit a few extra spots that needed sealing in my utility room. Basement has a nice, tight, snug feel to it now. I felt very comfortable using John and was particularly impressed by his blog. I like the fact that he works with Habitat for Humanity. I plan to use AGL again to spray my garage ceiling.

I originally received an e-mail quote the year before but never started the project. When I asked for another quote John Cunningham was very responsive and discussed the details of the job making recomendations on how to keep the cost down while providing the insullation needed. For example, two of the basement wall are completely below grade and the other two are 60% below grade so the effects of cold and hot weather is less direct than it is on the 1st and 2nd floors of the house above this basement. We set a tentative date and when the need to have an insullation inspection before starting to drywall came up he was great about scheduling a date for the spray foam that allowed for the inspection. His crew was ontime and polite explaining the access they need to the basement for equipment and ventilation. They also explained the need to connect to the electrical panel to provide 220 volts for the equipent rather than trying to plug it in somewhere. They were easy to work with regarding the fire-stop requirement and addressing unanticipated details like the area around two small basement windows that had not been completely framed out. They cleaned up as they went along and the job took about half a day. They left a clean basement, replaed the screens that had been removed and closed the windows. It was an overall very good experience.
Description of Work: AGL Solar & Spray Foam applied 11/2 inches (R-10) of spray foam to 1,150 sq ft of basement concrete foundation which had been framed with 2x4s to be covered with drywall. They also applied 2 inches (R-14) of spray foam to 150 ft of rim joists. The fire-code required a verticle fire-stop every 10 feet which AGL Solar & Spray Foam created by making sure the foam completely filled the space between the framing and foundation every 10 feet. This was much easier than building a fire-stop with drywall or by filling the space between the framing and foundation with Roxsol insullation. They cleaned off the face of the 2x4 framing (scraped foam over-spay off) so there were no issues putting up the drywall. They did a good job cleaning up and used a large blower to ventilate the basement while they applied the foam so there was no oder when they were done.

The house is wonderfully snug now! John, the owner, came out and made thoughtful recommendations based upon the particulars of an older house with lots of quirks. I had several contractors look at the house and give estimates, but chose AGL Solar for their product and how the solution would match our needs, as well as recommendations from friends and Angie's list. John and his crew were pleasant and professional and seemed to really care that they do a good job. They left the house incredibly clean, even with the removal of the old insulation. They sprayed open cell foam in the attic and used closed cell around the band joist in the basement as well as in several hard to reach areas. They cut access holes in two closets (pre-arranged and done neatly) on slanted areas so that they could approach these areas from both above and below to create the seal. The difference in the house is remarkable! Not only does the furnace go on less, but, also, we have the thermostat set several degrees lower than we used to and it feels warmer. An added benefit is that the house is quieter. A few weeks after we got the insulation installed, our furnace went out on us. The couple of days that we limped along on heat were a true testimonial to how well the house holds heat now! This is an example of my only regret is that we didn't do it sooner! I would definitely recommend John and his team at AGL Solar!
Description of Work: Removal of old insulation and then application of foam insulation in the attic, to the band joist in the basement, and in several hard to reach areas.

They generally did a great job just a little on the dirty side. They scuffed up a few things that I do not think they should have. The owner of the company did a great job explaining things to me and was very knowledgeable. He offers a good service at a good cost.
Description of Work: They put spray insulation in my home.
