My experience is detailed below, but my primary frustration with this contractor is:
- MAJOR SCHEDULING ISSUES
- TERRIBLE MANAGEMENT OF CUSTOMER EXPECTATIONS
- NICE GUYS, BUT PAINT ON MY FLOORS, PRIMER SHOWING THROUGH ON WALLS IN SOME PLACES AND SOME DRIPS
Our crew was scheduled to paint on Wednesday, June 18th and I was told they would arrive around 8am. I texted Frank, the franchise owner, shortly before 9am when the crew did not arrive. He said they should have been there and would call to find out where they were. He texted me after 11am to see if they had arrived. They had not. Frank called later that afternoon to let me know that they had gone to the wrong job and would be at my house the next day. He said he would send 4 guys and knock it out.
On Thursday, June 19th, our first painter did arrive around 8am. Very nice man. The second painter arrived closer to 9am. No other workers came. I asked if I needed to put down drop cloths on the new hardwood floors or tile that had just gone in. They assured me that they would take care of that. They worked until 4pm and said they would be back the next day to finish. They came back the next day and finished painting.
After they were done on Friday, June 20th, they asked if I was satisfied. I took a look around the walls and ceiling, but did not pull up the drop cloths. After a brief walk through each room, it looked good. I wrote the check and said thank you.
Over the weekend, I had a better chance to look at the paint job and pull up the drop cloths. In several places, our brand new hardwood floor had not been carefully covered and we had paint splatters (some big drops and some roller sprays). There were also several places were the paint did not quite cover the wall and the primer was showing through. Near our vanity in the master bath, they cut in once, but rolled close to the cut in twice, so there was a visible difference in color saturation. I sent a note to Frank on Monday, June 23rd and sent him photos and the same info I have detailed above requesting that these minor things be resolved. Overall, I was still pleased at this point because I thought this would be easy for them to take care of and the bulk of the work was done. Frank responded quickly and said he would schedule one of the guys from our crew back out to touch up and clean up the floors. He said he would make it right.
We are now 3.5 weeks from the date he promised to make it right and we are still waiting for this to be resolved.
After that promise to resolve on June 23rd, I had to reach out to Frank on July 1st to see when we were on the schedule. The response I got was and quot;Sorry he has been stuck on a job in Fox Chapel. I will send him when he is free.and quot; No date and no approximate timing on the resolution. On July 8th, I texted Frank again and asked if the painter could come the following week since we had family in town for 3 days (not that we were in the queue). He said, and quot;Yes will Monday workand quot; and we said that would be great. When Monday arrived, I texted Frank at 9:40am since our painter had not arrived. No response. I texted again at 12:15pm and asked if he was coming that day since I had pushed another contractor to Tuesday so the painting could be resolved on Monday as scheduled. At 1:15pm, Frank texted me to say that the painter was, in fact, coming that day and he was leaving where he was at early to head to our place. At 5pm that day, I texted Frank because it was obvious no one was coming and when could I expect someone to come resolve these issues. No response. On Wednesday, July 16, I sent Frank a note again asking him to please let me know when someone could come out. He said he would call his painter and have him call me directly. I am still waiting on that call.
This could have been a positive experience. A more timely response and resolution to the issues that were quickly identified would have left me a satisfied customer. Instead, the situation is ongoing frustration since we have been waiting on this to move into our new addition. Clearly, we are no longer a priority with our payment complete and new clients crowding Wow1Day painting's queue. I waited a fair amount of time to submit this review hoping that they would come through for me on these issues.
