Contractor Service
Terrible. The worst contractor I've ever had to deal with.
Tycat was told specifically not to start work without a permit. They started work on May 22, 2015 and according to Borough records the permit application was received May 28. I then got a letter from the Borough June 8 stating deficiencies with the application and a second letter June 16 adding additional issues. The Borough sent us a "stop work order - zoning violation notice" on July 2.
Two Tycat workers entered our home illegally and stole property on June 20. They were arrested and charged by Franklin Park Police the next day. They also broke a skylight on our roof and this has not been replaced. The Building Inspector paid us a visit on July 29 and recorded several problems. I had three independent contractors inspect the porch and provide their opinion and propose a repair plan. All three said the porch was hazardous and that the best option was to remove it and start over. When informed of this and compensation requested, Tycat would not reply to phone calls, text messages or emails. They later claimed they would file for bankruptcy so we would not be able to collect anything.
In addition to the above Tycat violated several sections of the Home Improvement Consumer Protection Act (HICPA). All supporting documentation was submitted to the Attorney General's office to support their subsequent investigation.
My wife and I are out approximate $18,000 due to this mess.
The best advice I can offer to anyone thinking of hiring this company - don't!
