Max Shively Concrete

I had an excellent experience working with Max. He communicated very well, adapted to design changes, and his work was top notch. This was a tricky project because it required me to coordinate with a product manufacturer. There was a lot of back and forth between Max, myself, and the manufacturer. Max always responded promptly, thought things through, and came up with good ideas. He was crucial to the success of the project. Max earned my trust completely. The project design changed after the initial estimate, the size of the retaining wall increased. I told Max that I'd understand if the cost increased, it didn't. He went above and beyond, doing things like bringing his own diesel can, which he filled, so that I could refill the skid steer I had rented for some excavation work related to the project. I couldn't have been more pleased with Max's work.

This young man, a NAHS graduate, learned his craft from his father, a long term concrete craftsman.  He has all the tools and expertise needed and is meticulous.  He cut and removed the crumbling concrete, put in additional base stones, drilled holes in the old concrete and inserted rebar and then poured concrete he got from a concrete plant.  He says concrete from a plant holds up better than what you get from Home Depot and mix yourself.  Could not be happier.  Highly recommend!

Although Max's bid for my job was a little higher than some of the other estimates, I view this as money very well spent. His efforts went above and beyond my expectations. He completed the job in three very efficient days. The first day, he removed and disposed of the existing paving stones and did some initial digging. Before he left, he placed wood planks over the dirt pathway (to prevent the renters from walking through mud in the event of rain). He returned 3 days later, as we had scheduled previously, to lay out the forms and pour gravel. He had the concrete delivered the following day. He "worked" and finished the concrete in a very professional and aesthetic manner- it was very obvious that Max Shively knew his craft well and prided himself by the quality of his work. Because it was an overcast day, he did not want to risk any unexpected damage being done to the concrete if it rained. He invested a couple more hours to build a plastic tent extending the full length/width of the walkway.
The end result was a very professionally constructed walkway that clearly adds value to my home. The discussions that I had with Max were very open, and he was very forthcoming about all aspects of the contract. He arrived when he said he would, completed the job within our schedules, and exhibited total professionalism throughout. I would not hesitate to recommend Max Shively for any type of concrete project that they might need.

I needed a professional concrete installer for a small job. It was hard to find someone to come and do a small job that required hand digging, as this was my basement patio under my second story deck. Before this, I had a no-show, and a couple very high bids.
However, Max came out and agreed to what was a very good price and he was professional and turned out to be very reliable. It's a small company so he came out over a couple of Saturdays to complete the work which was fine by me given his attention to detail, while there was a lot of manual labor required.
He was the one that bid the work and came out to do the work. A huge plus in my book. His work and the finished product turned out excellent - he went above and beyond by recommending and installing bars and mesh to connect the old and new concrete pads, which some of the other companies did not even bring to my attention.
