RICK ATKINSON PAINTING

Hiring Rick Atkinson was a HUGE mistake. When I first contacted him, he seemed very profressional. He came out on a Sunday afternoon to look the house over. He gave us an estimate of $2,500.00 to do the work. We were not living in the house at the time.  Moving in the first week in April. WELL, Rick and his  "helper" generally made a mess of the house. Every night we would check on his progress and found a disaster. Piles of old wallpaper stuck to the carpets, spackling smashed into carpets dust and trash everywhere. Paint splattered on the few end tables and lamps we provided to him because he had no work lights . Every night my wife and I would clean up, dust and straighten up his mess. A sink in the power room was damaged beyond repair. When I asked him about it, he said his  "helper" didn't know any thing about it. Then we found the floors damaged in the same powder room and the main bathroom. He said the job would take 2 weeks and we were ok with that. He called after a week and said they were done I knew something was wrong. I was right . Paint uneven, caulk slopped on the woodwork, he painted over chunks and crumbs of wall paper that he neglected to remove. I gave this man every accomodation, every opportunity to take his time and do the job right. He blamed the bad job on his helper and not being able to find good help. Then he said that maybe he gotten in a "little" over his head. I told him I was holding the rest of his money until he came back and fix the mess he made. A week went by and he hadn't been back. I demanded my keys back. When he brought them to me, he wouldn't look me in the eye. I wasn't looking for perfection, just a workmanship type job. I got slop. By July the paint was peeling. If you touch the woodwork, the paint falls off. I wish to god I never saw his phone number.
