When he first came out to talk to us, we had a list of questions. One was if they used stainless steel screws, he stated they did. They were not stainless.. He stated furring strips were going to be illegal in PA. Wrong. He stated Lowes recommended him. They will not recommend anyone. He stated he used bubble wrap for insulation. We found out it is used to insulate the shingles from the metal roof to keep from rusting. Not knowing we opted out of the bubble wrap. When we got him another job in the neighborhood, he put scrap pieces down, leaving much of the roof unprotected. Paid for the material in advance. When material was delivered we discovered they had measured wrong for the garage and was short of material. While they were installing the roof, we noticed that we only had 1 3/4" usable gutted. He stated "They don't do gutters". We have since had to remove most of the gutters from the house. Every metal sheet was cut and installed wrong. We requested an overhang in part of the back of the house of 4" because we did not have gutters on that section, we ended up with start of 4 1/2" and ended up at 8 1/2" overhang. This was caused because he started off crooked, every sheet went crooked. This also caused on the end of the house that has the 8 1/2 overhang, , the metal is barely 1" under the roof cap. When we pointed this out, the contractor stated or roof was twisted, crooked and shorter on one side than the other (and it is not). The chimney is only calked on the east/west side. He did not replace the rubber roof vent boots. He just cut around them and put calking around where he cut. (these sheet move and will cut into the rubber boots and will leak) Had to put extra calking and when we told the contractor about it, he stated our warranty was null and void. He had removed the main bathroom vent on the roof, because we do not use it, and did not put anything down over the hole and it is wet and dripping on ceiling. On the garage, one edge was not finished, shingles were showing, I had to finish it myself. Had 26' of ridge vent on garage roof and he only put 12' of ridge vent back on because he claims that is all you want for ventilation which is not enough. The metal is too close together under roof cap so heat cannot be vented properly. We had told him at the beginning, on the roof vent on the garage, we did not want access for bees, bats etc. because we use this area for storage. and anything can get in easily. We have had other contractors look at this roof and said it was a poor and shoddy job. When we contacted the contractor (Tim Conklin) with problems, he stated we voided our warranty and he would refund the labor portion of our payment. That was approx. 60 days ago and we have not received a refund and he will not answer any calls.
