Wilbys Plumbing and Home Improvements took my money and didn't do the work. I kept records so I could track him down again and he never returns my calls now. I put $1600 down on this project and he didn't show up. In fact I wrote him a check for a much smaller amount and he was like, that won't even cover getting the material, so I said okay and I wrote him a bigger check and that's what happened. Yes, it's really horrible when that happens and so if I can save somebody that heartache. The stones are coming up on the side job he did. He had done my paving project in the front of my house, he had gotten the wrong stones, I was very clear I wanted a circle in the front and the stone that he brought he just started cutting into any old pattern, and I said that's not going to work, I wanted an actual circle so he returned the brick and got the new pavers out to my house and then it took him forever to do the project, like weeks. It wasn't going to rain it was mostly nice out, and then he changed the shape of the driveway so I asked if he could lay some asphalt right there. He said he would and it was horrible, so I asked him to fix it and he was going to do some work on some drainpipes and build little stairs and put in a new door. Those are small projects, so I knew he could do those, but I would never trust him on a paver project again. He gave me a quote and I wrote a check for $400, I had already given him $800, he asked for another check for $400, and this is above and beyond the paver project. I came out with another check for $400, he refused it and he said, no it's going to be more than that for material, so he wanted a check for $800, so that added up to $1600 that he basically took and left with never to be heard from again. I got a big run around from one of his employees, I also have his phone number, and he said Mike was hurt and he had back problems, that he would get to me and I never heard from either one again. He was referred to us by someone we had found on Angie's List that we had used for our landscaping. He said he had worked with him in the past and he was very reasonable and that's how I got in contact with him. I figured since the other person was from Angie's List and I trust him, and I still use him, it wasn't his fault that Mike flaked. I went ahead and got a quote from him and he was cheaper than a number of paving companies that I had contacted, but not the cheapest, but he seemed like the nicest and most reasonable guy, but then we just kept hitting stumbling blocks. And then he took my money.
