When I called the electrician and explained the problem, he advised that I might to get a replacement fan. That would eliminate a 2nd service call if the current fan was defective. He called to let me know he could come out early if that was OK. Of course it was. He checked the wall switches and the ceiling fixture; took everything apart; found the dead frayed wire in the fan housing. He mounted the new fan and reassembled everything. This man was polite, congenial, and efficient!
