My house sits high above a creek. The back yard ends with a wooded bank that is almost as sttep as a cliff. I had three dead trees and one badly damaged one on that bank. I had previously received an estimate from another company of nearly $4000 to take out just two of the trees. Yesterday I noticed a tree crew working at a neighbor's house. I asked if they would be willing to give me an estimate. John Sullivan, the owner, walked down the street with me and took a look. At the time we were talking about three trees. He gave me an estimate of $1,000 total to take out all three. Since they were in the woods there was no reason to entirely clean out the logs, which would have cost more. I agreed to it and he said he would be back next week. I said I did not have to be home for the work to be done. This morning -- which was just a day later -- they pulled into the driveway. It had rained hard the night before and he said they couldn't do a different job they had scheduled today, but they could do mine. There was a four-man crew and they were very efficent. Yesterday I had showed them a drainage system near one of the trees, and they were careful to remove (and later replace) the piping that could have been damaged. After the first tree came down John pointed out another tree furter down the bank that had previously been hidden but had a huge split in the trunk and was in danger of falling on my neighbor's property. It was an extremely large tree. I asked how much they would charge to take that one out. He said $400, so I said to go ahead and do it. They worked very hard for over three hours. I was charged the same prices I had been quoted. I was very pleased with the work. I would absolutely hire them again.
