A few weeks after a pleasant experience purchasing a water softening system from Martin Appliance our refrigerator, bought at a retail/chain store, went on the fritz.
We had had an issue with the refrigerator about 9 months ago, and the repair process from the chain store was a nightmare.  Needless to say we weren?t eager to go that route again!
 I took a chance and called Martin, unsure if they would be eager to repair an appliance that was not purchased at their store. Our apprehension couldn?t have been more misplaced! They were more than happy to come out, and in fact they managed to fit me in to their schedule the same day (a Thursday). If that had not worked out, they scheduled me for the next Monday (just in case).
To come to the door is not cheap.  They charge around $100 for a basic service call, and then if they have to make the repair you are charged for time, parts etc.  If they can?t fix it the same day when they return you are not charged for an additional fee; you only pay for time, labor and parts.
We could not have been more pleased. The repair person showed up after calling to let me know he was on the way. He was pleasant and extremely knowledgeable. He was able to fix it right then and there but if that had not been the case I am confident he would have returned and the problem taken care of properly.

They were friendly, knowledgeable; there to help and answer questions but not pushy.
They came and tested the water to assess our needs and confirm which system was best for us.
Installation took a few hours so remember you won?t have access to water for a bit.
In recommending this system they not only told us all the good things but also discussed the common complaints and showed us how to work around them.
They followed up about 4 weeks later with another water test to make sure things were functioning properly.  In addition they offer a service to come once a year or as needed to service the unit.
All in all they were very professional and would go back again for any appliance needs.

The two gentlemen arrived a half-hour early.  All three appliances were delivered and installed in a second-floor condominium.  The old appliances were also removed.  During the process, the freezer door sustained a minimal scratch.  They pointed it out and
ordered a replacement, which will arrive the week of January 6.  Several days after installation, I received a phone call from Martin's to determine if I was pleased with both the service and the appliances.  Overall, a positive experience!

Our second call was due to a leak from our softener.  They came next day, called when on their way and completed the repair of the base cap and several internal parts (it is an old system that will need replacement in the near future).  Repairs and service call came to $242.  Both times service tech Shannon did a great job.  He's a patient man who took the time to explain the system to me.

We had a leaking dishwasher, and when we called Maytag, they informed us our dishwasher was under recall and referred us to Martin's to do the recall service.The repair person they sent out was great. He was able to quickly order the parts for the dishwasher recall -- and for a refrigerator door we then showed him that wouldn't close properly -- and the repairs fixed the problems.This is the best company I've worked with in this town because they are efficient and communicative. They called us to let us know when the parts were ordered and when they would come in, and making appointments for the service were easy. They showed up when they said they would. They were just very professional and never left us wondering when things would happen or what would be done.

I have used Martin Appliance & Water for many things - purchase of a new washer & dryer (and some minor repairs during the lst 8.5 years), replacement of a microwave, repairs to refrigerator and freezer and purchase/installation of a Kinetico water softening system. All their service/sales personal have been prompt, courteous, and professional. They know what they are doing and the do their job well. When an appliance needs repair, or when I'm looking for something new. I know I can depend on Martin Appliance.

I had to call their service department and I have only positive things to say about them. They talked me through troubleshooting over the telephone twice. They are an excellent company and I loved how they responded to the new clients when I went to buy a new appliance. They are new to this area but they are all around us. They just started this store in Reading. They were very professional. I went into the store to check prices because I didn't know how expensive they would be. They were very comparable with the other big stores. They have their own service department. They are very good in their service. I will absolutely use them again. I have been talking them up all over.
