Fred himself does decent work...it's the assistants that he hires that are half of the problem, under skilled, unsupervised , mediocre workers. During this project there were AT LEAST 5 different helpers at different times. The front door isn't square...the lock has been adjusted at least twice, still blows open. The deck boards on one porch were odd left over cuts, where the rest of it isn't. They shift too. The railing on one porch is very loose. Dry wall finishing is HORRIBLE in all the rooms he worked on. Tape has come loose from the seams, creating bubbles...the CUSTOM SHOWER WALLS were put in BACKWARDS!!!! The custom sink is SAGING because there were no supports put under it. So much more wrong than right. Fred DOES not return phone calls, has many excuses...some legit some not so much. Has money he was supposed to finish work for and never came back to fix or complete the things he PROMISED he would take care of.

He came to the house to repair some of the siding which had pulled off the wall. Since then over 30 voice mails have been left on his phone. A certified letter was sent to his PO box. He has not responded to any of the attempts to contact him. In the letter sent and voice mail left we asked for a refund of the deposit made for the work yet to be done. The work that he did was great. Our new kitchen is fantastic. In the past I gave him the higest Angie list rating possible. It saddens me know to rate him as unacceptable.

My roof was 25 years old. I did not leak but was showing signs of age. The shingle "gravel" was washing off. Some of the flashing was not laying correctly. Fred's crew showed up on time and expeditiously stripped the old roof. They neatly removed the old shingles from the room and dumped them in their trailer. The new shingles installed beautifully with 4 nails per shingle. It took them 1 and half days to complete the job. They were very professional and courteous to my family. My wife was home alone with the roofing crew and felt comfortable with them at the house., She also appreciated how they cleaned up after themselves on both days. My wife is pleased with the job done. We have had 2 neighbors compliment the new roof.
Description of Work: He replaced the roof.

At first things were going fine. The total estimate was paid. Then, contractor stopped coming to work on the project and eventually stopped before it was finished. There are many things left un-done which we had to hire someone else to complete and a few things that were said to be 'finished' had to be fixed. Now, today... one of the water lines he replaced broke open at a junction on the main water line and is running water into our newly finished basement. I would NEVER EVER hire Heinly's Home Remodeling, nor would I recommend them. He charges to much for the work that was done. Only for us to pay again to have someonelse complete the project.
Description of Work: We hired Heinly's Home Remodeling to finish our basement. The contractor, studded, drywalled, painted, carpentry work, ran basic electric and changed a few water lines from copper to peks.

Response from Heinly's Home Remodeling
This was a very personal family matter at the time, and this review is in the process of removal from this site. The job was done way below what normally should have been charged and the review is very exaggerated. Yes,the job was being done and was interrupted by a divorce from his mother-in-law. Personal affairs that were posted on this site under a difficult time for all involved and unjustly so.
I had to make phone calls to find out when he was going to come and work on it.He was always trying to fit us in.
Description of Work: Fred Heinly installed 8 windows. We had 2 windows installed replacing existing awning windows which opened with a motorized switch as they are too high to reach by hand. He assured us that he could install new windows with a remote to open and close. What we have are 2 windows that don't open and we spoke to several salesmen from the company which makes the window and was told that they don't make a motor for any of their windows. We now don't have the ventilation that we had planned on. Also, All of the window sills have knotholes that have bled through because of his lousy paint job. It did look good at the time, but it soon became apparent that it wasn't primed properly.

We haven't done anything with it yet. He came out right away so he was pretty on the ball. We didn't get the quote back for a little while so that was average. The quote came in higher but we are considering them.
Description of Work: We got a quote from Heinly's Home Remodeling for remodeling work in the bathroom.
Fred estimated that the project would take 14 business days to complete the job, which it did. When he got behind in the job he volunteered to work on Saturday and Labor Day to ensure the job was completed on time. Fred was always punctual. He always told ahead of time the days he would be late. He was very considerate of our time. Fred took my wife shopping to pick out the items going into the bathroom, tiles and rugs. This was my wife's favorite part of the project. Everything Fred recommended was quality. Fred quickly adapted to conditions uncovered after the demo. All of the electrical wiring for the three rooms was a mess. It appears to have been done by an amateur. The old 220 drier connection was incorrectly grounded and in the middle of the drier exhaust conduit. 14 gage wire was used in places where 12 gage wire should have been used. The laundry room was a fire hazard waiting to happen. Fred ripped out all the wiring and re-wired all three rooms. He brought the electrical to code. He fixed errors in the circuit breaker box. None of this work was listed on the contract to be done. He did it without charging for it. The rest of the project went as we had planned it. He completed the laundry/bathroom first. He wanted to get the laundry back working again. Everything was done beautifully. Molding corners met cleanly. After painting the walls, you could not tell where Fred had taped the sheet rock. It was obvious the pride and skill that Fred brought to the project. When the three rooms were done, Fred ripped out the dining room floor and replaced it in a day. The last day was adding the ceiling fan in the living room. Everything was done neatly. It has been 6 weeks since he completed the project. We are still amazed and pleased with the results. My wife has the laundry area she always waned. A place out of the way to hang and fold clothes. Lots of storage for her "stuff". Me I love the entertainment center. It no longer in the sun like it was previously. The wires for the 5 speakers are run through the walls. My dog loves the new rug. Next year we would like to remodel the Kitchen. I would feel comfortable doing the Kitchen remodel on a hand shake. This is the confidence I have in Fred and his crew.
Description of Work: We had a laundry room in the center of our house and a powder room which was on the outside of the house. There was a non-bearing wall separating the two rooms. We wanted to combine the rooms so the laundry room would be on the outside of the house, and the powder room on the inside of the house. For years the electrical dryer had been venting through the wall and ceiling of the powder room. Additionally, our family room was in desperate need of updating. The previous owner had painted the wood walls a yucky green, put in a drop ceiling and some poorly constructed closets. We wanted to gut the room, trash the drop ceiling and put in a home entertainment area. The solid wood floor in the 10 x 12 dining room had water damage and buckled. We wanted to replace the wood floor. Lastly we needed a ceiling fan with a light kit in our living room.
