Daniel A McCord Contracting

I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS BUILDER. HE IS RATED F AT THE B.B.B. AND HE HAS COMPLAINTS AT THE ATTY.GENERAL OFFICE. WE HAVE A CRIMINAL CASE AGAINST HIM FOR $75,842.25. This is our story. We hired Daniel A. McCord Dec.17th, 2010 to build a log home shell. WE PAID DAN THE FIRST DRAW OF $67,000.00 .We did not get our building permit because Dan kept screwing up. Finally we got the building permit March 11th, 2011. We had a great company put in our basement. We were ready for Dan to start our home April15th, 2011. Dan did not show up until April 26th. He wanted the check for the finished basement. I paid him the $8,842.25 for our basement. That money should have went to the basement company. Then Dan told me that his mother was in a Philadelphia hospital dying so he would be unable to build our home the rest of April and May because he was at the hospital 24/7. June 2nd, he said his mother died. He then said her funeral would be June 6th. In total, Dan promised to build our home 7 times. It never happened. July 7th was the day I fired Dan. The only thing that Dan did was put on a sub standard sub floor that was not to code and has to be removed. AFTER FIRING DAN WE FOUND OUT HIS MOTHER IS ALIVE AND WELL. We also found out that Dan has done this to other families and we also found he doesn’t pay sub contractors. He also did not pay for our basement with the check we provided him. We our now out $75,842.25.I am updating our story,Daniel A. McCord did end up pay for the basement.His check bounced at least one time that we know about.Mine you we gave Dan the check for the basement in April for $8,842.25.Dan finilly paid it some time in Aug.I believe.Since I wrote ths story I have been contacted by numerous people that Daniel A.McCord was to do work for.Sadly I must say He ripped them off to.I learned he even took flooring frm a flooring company & didn't pay for.Daniel A.McCord is a criminal.I can't stress this enough! If you come across any king of home improvement company or constuction company and he is working in It or for it DO NOT I REPEAT DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH IT.YOU WILL BE SORRY THAT YOU DID.I have a list of 8 people that have been ripped off by this man.And all our storis are mstly the same.Dan tell his customers that his ,Mother,Wife,Grandfather,Freind,are dying then dead.....He's sick,in an accident,injured,ect....It's very sad what Daniel A.McCord's done to people.Don't be his next victim!

After being assured our project would be completed in four weeks, on the eighth business day of the project, the contractors had only worked four days, caused two leaks, and had stopped our boiler heater from working. The contractors, Dan McCord and Shane Tunbridge, had assured us they had “lots of guys” who would be able to complete the project. They were not contractors; instead, they did all the work themselves, and they did nearly all of it badly. We had several meetings throughout to try to get on the same page, but problems persisted. At eight weeks, we were nowhere close, we had another leak, the wrong flooring was ordered, and they ruined the existing floors by sanding them so unevenly there was cupping throughout. They admitted they never ordered our fixtures or appliances though they’d assured us on multiple occasions that they had. When we fired them, we had multiple new contractors walk through the house, and they all agreed that almost all of the plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and grouting needed to be redone. We filed a claim with the Better Business Bureau, and they never responded. In three weeks, our new contractor has just about finished the job of redoing everything Dan and Shane did wrong and finishing what they didn’t do.
