Because I knew this was going to be an expensive project, I went to Angies List and called three (3) providers. Of the three, we selected Todd Dawson for job, even though his bid was the highest.
Here's why we chose Todd.
(1.) He was on time when he came to our home to quote the project.
(2.) He took well over an hour to describe to us how he was going to proceed.
(3.) He does not subcontract the jobs. He is present every day, working hard right beside his crew.
(4.) He utilizes a 60ft. cherry picker to cut down the branches first.
(5.) He was professional, well spoken and impressed us with his knowledge of dropping trees.
Todd and his team really knew the art of cutting down trees, dropping them just right so they wouldn't effect our landscaping or other younger trees. His clean up crew was amazing. Sweeping, raking, and taking away any excess debris. He even cut back branches without charge.
We choose to have Todd take away a majority of the wood; leaving us with more than enough for many years to come. I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND Todd's Tree Service, Inc, of Pottstown, to EVERYONE. Don't bother calling anyone else. Todd's your guy for trees!
He finished the one location and when I asked him about when he would get to the second location to finish the work, he said that he would get to it within a few weeks. He never did. He forgot all about it and four weeks later we had a big storm and since he never got to that location, large branches came down and tore the wires and ripped the eletric pole in half. Because Todd never finished this second location, he costs our company $3600 worth or extra electric repair costs.
When I sent him a note about it and to also tell him to obviously not bother doing this other part of the job, since I had it covered by someone else, I didn't even receive a phone call saying he was sorry that he was delayed, and therefore costing us all this extra money, or anything. He just ignored me, and showed me that he bascially, didn't care.
So obviously, I will not do business with him ever again, nor recommend his service to anyone when asked. If you do business with him, I'd advise in your contract to spell out exactly the dates of service, and have a penalty clause in there if those dates aren't met.
