My partner and I are very involved with renovations to our house: she's an interior designer, I'm an engineer.
That said, we interview prospective craftspeople pretty carefully. John and Keith, the partners behind French Creek Masonry Works, are a pair of talented, "can do" craftsmen.
We had a bit of a challenge: our proposed path ran along the eastern side of our house, with some tricky elevation changes on the way to the existing patio pad. We also needed some "curb walls" in the parking area to divert storm water away from some perennial garden beds. The curb walls needed to look like an existing curb wall, and tie to that wall in one spot.
Also, we wanted to install channel drains in the path and tie them to an existing drain system I had installed for the downspouts from the roof, as well as multiple landscape lighting feeds under the flagstone.
And, we wanted to pick our own flagstone (we did, from two different yards) and the pattern had to be random but not use any
12 x 12 or 12 x 30 size pieces.
John and Keith worked hard to make us satisfied with everything they did. From the mortar color to the patio pattern's design, to wonderful looking stone walls, these two delivered a great job.
They have very good taste, communicate everything in a calm and concise way, and are excellent problem solvers. They worked hard, and stuck to their quoted price. The finished product is beautiful; friends and neighbors have given it rave reviews.
And we are very happy with the results.
