Rentals - Parties, Entertainment/Parties
NOT RECOMMENDED. Big Rip-Off
The owner of Games2U called us 1 hour before the party (11:30 AM) to tell us his Mercedes Benz Van would not start, so he did not know if he would make it. Instead, he was sending 2 people to set up the Laser Tag and U-Launcher Game to our house to get started.
He indicated the van battery was dead and roadside assistance was on there way to jump start it. Apparently Mercedes Benz or AAA services are non-existing in Port Carbon, PA as it took him 2-3 hours to get a battery jump.
By 3:10 the video van pulled up in front of our house (2 hours and 40 minutes late). With a 10-15 minute set up time, games started at 3:20. As we went into the van, we noticed only 3 of the 4 video monitors were operational. He "closed shop" at 3:55 and wanted paid in full. He did not offer any discount.
The kids had a whopping 30-35 minutes to play video games, 1 hour of laser tag and 1 hours of U-Launcher fun (a 2 person game)!
Laser Tag and the Angry Bird U-Launcher showed up at 1:10 PM (scheduled for 12:30), they set up and gathered up the 22 boys. The two employees decided not to break the kids up into two groups: 1 for Laser Tag and 1 for the 2 person Launcher Game. As you can imagine 20 boys standing around watching two boys in action was fun for about 30 seconds. Most of kids went off to play other things on our property as they were bored!
After about 1 hour had passed (2:15), they started laser tag and the kids were running around having fun!
It's a good thing that we provided most of the boy's entertainment by playing basketball, swinging on our 70 foot tree swing, and riding a variety of motorized Razor bikes and scooters.
From a business standpoint, the owner never introduced himself when he arrived at our home, he never apologized, and stood outside the van looking angry as we had imposed that he had to make an attempt to show up to the party.
His position was 2 of 3 games "showed up" to the party so I should be happy. However the Video Van was supposed to be the main attraction!
In summary, I paid him $400 of the $479 fee (not including tax to be 100% accurate) as sent him on his merry way.
As a follow-up phone call, to express our disappointment (not asking for any money to be returned), he indicated "he knew people like us", and wanted everything for free. I consider this a pretty bold statement considering I paid him $400 for a lousy service.
I doubt anyone would have paid this person $400 for the service.
