+ 1 moreStop your search...call Zalar's. Our highest compliment is they treated our lawn as if it were their own. A very large maple tree was taken down in late fall so a complete redo of the front yard was needed. The tree cast complete shade on the front so there virtually was no grass...and heavy Pittsburgh clay soil. The ground was prepared and seeded, weeds and old shrubs removed, all beds were mulched, beautiful new shrubs were planted, and a very, very heavy lawn ornament was picked-up and installed. Beyond the very fair, highly competitive price, Adam and Eric proved to be highly skilled craftsmen. They made excellent suggestions which improved our initial plans. The smallest detail did not escape their attention. Zalar's has our unqualified endorsement.

+ -1 moreI agreed to the work. Rain caused delays in November. No problem for me. Adam came with another employee. The work in a little over four hours. Will have them come back to trim new shrubs. The front yard looks so nice I won't let anyone go near it. Get nice complements from neighbors. I think it is the nicest looking front yard on the street. It was worth every dollar.
Description of Work: I have a small font yard in front of my townhouse that need sprucing up. Overrun with weeds. Needed a total redo. I sent out three requests and Zalars was the only one that responded. Adam and I talked about what work needed done. We talked about plants and design. Had some dead shrubs to be removed.

She informed me that it was nearing the end of the season - and spoke to me about how payment works. She said she would have Junior call me to come look at the yard and they would get back to me with in the week with a price. Got a call from Junior that he was coming out. Nothing after that.
Description of Work: Contacted for a schedule yard service. They never got back to me and never came to look at my yard.

However crews didn't always seem to be as concerned about doing excellent work(one exception was when we had some shrub trimming done--the worker was very good). so there were more disconnects resulting in more complaints than I would have liked.

Description of Work: I asked for an estimate to do some major landscaping in my backyard. Everyone was very professional and I was happy with the estimate for the amount of work that was to be done. Unfortunately, a few days after the contract was signed, but before the work started I lost my contract at work and had to cancel so no work was ever done. But I had a great experience dealing with them up to that point and I would most certainly call them again when I am able to do the project I wanted to in the first place.

+ -1 moreWe had them clear our back yard to have a pool installed. Matt gave us a fair price, arrived when he said he would and did a great job. They did such good work we had them come back after the pool was installed and do the landscaping around it. I would highly recommend them to anyone.

Matt and his crew are efficient, reliable, polite, and provide excellent service. I have recently received estimates from Matt Zalar for stump and root removal, planting new trees, etc. I will definitely hire Zalar's to take care of this work when I am ready. All of my experiences with Zalar's has been excellent.

Description of Work: They installed two sump collections pits, removed bushes, cut down a dead tree and removed the stump, built a wall along the patio, created planting beds, and graded and hydroseeded the lawn.

+ -1 moreMatt Zallar, Owner of Zallar's Landscaping & his workers were Very Courteous and Very Professional. At the End of Each & Every Day they Clean up Work Area before going Home. Everything was Done in a Timely Schedule. Matt made sure of elevation of concrete forms was set for proper water drainage of driveway. I have a long driveway. Matt Zallar went over the whole job area with Me & made sure of everything was in place correctly. I Like that. Matt took the Time & Consideration of doing that with Me. After the Concrete was done & it rained a week later. I went outside watching the rain water flowed 'Perfectly' from sides of driveway down toward the bottom end of long driveway 'catch drain/basin'. There were No Puddles at all. Everything was straight, level, and the water flowed toward the middle some what & all the way down towards to bottom end of long driveway 'catch drain/basin'. JUST PERFECT WATER FLOW ! We are VERY HAPPY & VERY SATISFIED with ZALLAR'S LANDSCAPING. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. THANK YOU MATT ZALLAR FOR A BEAUTIFUL CONCRETE DRIVEWAY.
Description of Work: MATT ZALAR of ZALLAR'S LANDSCAPING did the removal of existing next door neighbors' Fence. With the next door Neighbor Approval. I took complete Responsibility. It was up against my existing Concrete Driveway. Removal of existing Concrete Driveway. After Concrete Driveway was removed, Dug Trench Lines for Installination of Drainage Lines from Gutters/Down Spouts of House. Matt Zalar noticed something, while digging Trench Line along my Garage wall. The Garage wall needed some work done. It was pointed out to Me & Matt stated that he will repair & make it right. After that Garage wall was fix, Matt put 'TAR' all along the Garage wall down to the footer. Installation PVC Lines from Down Spouts from Front of House. Connected Front of House PVC Line to PVC Line from Back of House in Trench Lines. Then continue thru Rear of House. Back fill & covered existingTrench Lines. Set Concrete Forms in Driveway & put Gravel in as a Base for Concrete to be Poured. Put Rebars & Wire Mesh in before Concrete being Poured. At the end of bottom width of Driveway, Installation of 'catch drain/basin'. Poured Concrete & Broom Finish. Waited a couple of days to removed concrete forms. Matt Zallar & his workers did an 'Outstanding' Job.

Description of Work: Did concrete driveway. They are good if you can get them to come. The concrete cracked after they finished it, I'm not sure if it was dug deep enough. I found no concrete guys warratee the concrete, they always blame the concrete company that makes it. I have used these guys before. Nice guys, but you have to stay on them to get their services. If your a small job, you get bumped until he decides to get to you , but overall he is worth waiting for. They are not cheep, but you get what you pay for. I'm not afraid to pay for good work, I have had gypsies and had no luck with cheap contractors.

+ -1 moreHe was very nice. He came out in a prompt way. His men chopped it up and took it all away. Then we had some extra wood from a tree that had fallen down last fall which we hadn’t got rid of. He took that away as well. So he did it very well and there were no problems. We were pleased. We actually only paid him yesterday, and he didn’t nag us or bug us. My husband forgot and he’s been out of town and he didn’t think of him anymore. So I checked with my husband about the payment and then he went over and paid him the money. I can’t tell if the price is good or not because it was between him and my husband. I don’t know what the current prices are in the other places. They are honest and reliable. I would call them back. I would use their services again in the future.
Description of Work: We used Zalar's Landscaping for tree service. We last used their services a couple of weeks ago. He did some tree work for us. It was right after a storm. We had a tree fall in our back yard.
