It took a number of meetings, but they presented me with designs and costs at each step. Once we had decided on a finalized design, they then presented me with a final cost and timeline.
They kept me informed along the way and in the end, all we get are compliments on their work.
They are not the low cost provider in this industry, but they are the best!
Slight delay in getting started (our vacant and then Williams had another big job that delayed them getting out a couple of days.
They came and measured for pieces of glass that were damaged (they were ordered from California). After a couple of weeks (after glass came in), they came and removed the entire front door. They installed temporary plywood to fill opening while door was repaired.
Door was back in opening within 5 days. They took it all apart, squared up door frame, and the doors looks like new. Great job and the two gentlemen who installed were very good to deal with.
I would wholeheartedly recommend Williams. They were responsive to emails and phone calls, too. Came up with good solution to a worrisome problem.
That occurred on a Monday morning. They said it would be ready by Friday morning. They brought it all back and installed it Friday morning.
We are very pleased with their work. They recommended that two reinforcing bars be installed to help keep the glass stable, as it is a large piece and the door is opened and closed often. We were worried about how this would look, but they did a great job and the bars are hardly noticeable.
We will definitely use them again, as there are other windows that need some work. We were very pleased with the staff at Williams and would highly recommend them to anyone.
They took 50% up front around the beginning/middle of October. I don't remember the exact estimated time-to-finish, but it was around 4-6 weeks. Apparently a church restoration came up and bumped my project down the road a bit. I finally received the window today (12/5/11).
The window piece that they replaced matchs the other in that area well. Some pieces around the edges that they cleaned and reinserted have glue/paint residue on them. I asked if it could be scraped off with a razor blade. They tried and it looks like it can be scraped off, so I said I'd do the rest at home. Annoying that I have to do it, but I didn't go there expecting to finish the window-- I had an appointment to keep afterward.
There are two metal bars supporting the lead frame now. They're a little unsightly, and I didn't think to question them at the shop because I wasn't sure if they had been there already. These may be necessary supports, I don't know. I'll contact them about fixing this in a different way and update my post as the situation progresses.
They sanded most of the sash fine, though there is a large splotch of white wood putty or something similar. I did request that the screw hole it's filling be repaired, but they could have sanded down the fill so there was only a dot of it. I'll have to do this before I finish the side.
All in all, they were nice enough. The price was ok. You should ask them for a penultimate finish date after which you get some discount. And inspect your piece at the shop better than I did, especially if it's a repair piece.
