Worst money I ever spent. We bought a top of the line memory foam mattress and adjustable bed. It was delivered and set up as promised. After one night we realized that this mattress had no "memory" it was just hard as a rock, and it had a very strong odor. We returned to the store the next day and were informed that their return policy was dictated by the state and they could not take a mattress back once has been used. Rather we could donate it to a charity, provide them with the receipt and then pay several hundred dollars for another mattress. This was a one time allowance. We upgraded to their top mattress it was delivered and again no memory in the foam and hard as a rock. WE were told that it takes a few months for the mattress to soften up. Well it has been almost 6 months and we still wake up sore every morning. We had tried several other manufacturers memory foam mattresses and you could feel the foam giving underneath your weight and molding to you. We tried to give the business to a more or less local company - we got the business instead. Don't believe the ads that they use the same materials as the national brands- they don't.
We purchased a home in Plum in early 2011; I was excited about the size of our new master bedroom since I had always wanted a king-sized bed and finally had the space to accommodate one. We used a waterbed for the previous 27 years [ I know, I know...totally RETRO ;-} ] but our middle-aged backs could not longer tolerate it even though we owned an expensive water mattress with lumbar support. We went straight over to The Original Mattress Factory without bothering to shop elsewhere. Basically, I asked the salesman to show us the best mattress they sold that had a pillow-top. He directed us the Orthopedic Euro Top mattress set up in the showroom. As soon as I laid down on it, I knew instantly that I had to have it; thankfully my husband agreed! We also made an amazing pillow discovery--the Restora latex high-loft pillow. Topping off the purchase was a Platinum protector mattress pad--I wanted something to protect the mattress and knew that any stains would void the warranty in the sense that they reserve the right to refuse service on a stained mattress. The salesman claimed that "this mattress pad could stop a fire hose". Naturally this scenario is not even a remotely likely event BUT I've been unable to get the mental image of a fire hose trained on my mattress out of my mind. If I had to provide a negative aspect, I would tell you that this mattress is crazy heavy. My husband and I can barely rotate it on our own. We need to enlist the help of our sons-in-law to flip it. Bottom line is that we are still very, very happy about this purchase going on four (4) years.
***NOTE--I ended up going back to this store a few months later to purchase additional Platinum protector mattress pads for the name-brand mattresses in our spare bedrooms. I figured it was a good investment when our first grandchild was on the way. We now have three grandsons and I have no worries about sleepovers.
"THE ORIGINAL MATTRESS FACTORY FEELS THE REPORT SUBMITTED BY THIS CUSTOMER IS INACCURATE AND DOES NOT PROPERLY ADDRESS THE ACTIONS TAKEN BY THE COMPANY TO SATISFY THE CUSTOMER. THE CUSTOMER SELECTED AN EXTRA FIRM MATTRESS ON JUNE 2, 2006. ON JUNE 11, 2006, THE CUSTOMER CALLED TO SAY THE MATTRESS WAS NOT COMFORTABLE AND WAS CAUSING BACK PAIN. THE CUSTOMER THEN DESIRED A MATTRESS WITH A SOFTER FEEL (LUXURY FIRM). THE CUSTOMER'S MATTRESS WAS TRANSPORTED BACK TO THE FACTORY AND WAS TOTALLY REUPHOLSTERED TO THE LUXURY FIRM (SOFTER) FEEL ON JUNE 12, 2006. THE MATTRESS WAS REUPHOLSTERED AT NO CHARGE TO THE CUSTOMER. THE CUSTOMER CALLED BACK ON JUNE 23, 2006 TO SAY THE SECOND MATTRESS HE SELECTED WAS STILL TOO FIRM. WE INFORMED THE CUSTOMER THAT WE WOULD AGAIN REUPHOLSTER THE MATTRESS TO AN EVEN SOFTER FEEL AND WOULD CHARGE FOR THE MATERIALS USED IN THE SECOND REUPHOLSTERING BUT WOULD NOT CHARGE FOR ANY LABOR INVOLVED. THE CUSTOMER THOUGHT THIS WAS UNFAIR AND THAT THE COMPANY SHOULD CONTINUE TO ABSORB ALL COSTS UNTIL HE WAS SATISFIED WITH THE MATTRESS. THE CUSTOMERS REPORT IS FALSE BY STATING THAT OMF REFUSED TO MODIFY THE MATTRESS WITHOUT THE CUSTOMER HAVING TO PAY ADDITIONAL DOLLARS. THE MATTRESS WAS TOTALLY MODIFIED TO A LUXURY FIRM FEEL WITHOUT THE CUSTOMER ABSORBING ANY COST WHATSOEVER. THE COMPANY HAS SINCE BEEN IN CONTACT WITH THE CUSTOMER IN A FURTHER ATTEMPT TO RECTIFY THIS SITUATION. THE CUSTOMER HAS TAKEN NO ACTION AS OF MARCH 3, 2008."
