SPROW COMMERICAL & HOME IMPROVEMENTS

The brick work was awful when the new roof was put on. The flashing on the small roof in the front is really bad. The chimneys were relined improperly, and there was deadly amounts of carbon monoxide in the apartment. I am in the middle of a litigation trying to get some money back for that.

A contract was drawn up and it started out well. All of the drawing and things looked good. When we started construction, we had trouble with water coming into the site. He told me that there would be no trouble with that. The original house had a sump pump. Once we had the main wall up, it started to cave in. He tried to backfill, but it wouldn't stop caving in. I hired a construction consultant, who told me that I needed to use to fill each block with aggregate, which Ron didn't do. I had to hire another company to come in and install wall anchors to keep it to keep from caving in. During all of this, water was pouring into the site. Once we had that fixed, the water was still pouring in. At this point, Ron was saying that it was my fault, because it was a bad site. He had left spaces where the water could enter, and he had tried to patch it with improper materials. At first we had a major flood. I had to hire experts to figure out that the downspouts were emptying into the french drain systems. He didn't measure the spiral staircase so that it isn't anchored correctly. It's taken me 9 years to find someone to fix the water problem without costing a fortune. He poured concrete into standing water, so it didn't cure properly. He couldn't hang doors properly, and then just pulled them out and said he couldn't do it. Then he said that he was losing money and that he was invalidating the quote. He was totally unwilling to work with me. The siding on the outside of the house was not done correctly. The roofing shingles are cut too short so that water is coming in under them and rotting the roof. The addition isn't tied in to the rest of the house, so water is leaking into the house. I can't even get anyone to sell the house for me at this point! Everything that could go wrong, has gone wrong.

BIDDING AND INITIAL PLANNING WENT WELL AND THEN HE JUST DISAPPEARED. NO CONTACT FROM JAN TO JUNE 2004. HE HAD A FEW GOOD IDEAS I'LL USE WITH OUR NEXT CONTRACTOR. THE NON-COMMUNICATION AND FOLLOW THROUGH TO COMPLETE HIS JOB MAKE THE GOOD START IRRELEVANT THOUGH. ON 6/14 HE CALLED ME BACK IN RESPONSE TO TWO MESSAGES I HAD LEFT HIM PREVIOUSLY. HE BASICALLY TOLD ME A LARGE JOB CAME THROUGH THAT HE DIDN'T EXPECT. IT WOULD TAKE HIM ALL OF THE YEAR TO COMPLETE HIS CURRENT PROJECT. HE NEVER LET ME KNOW THIS WAS AN ISSUE UNTIL SUMMER WAS ALREADY UNDERWAY. TO START THE ENTIRE PROJECT OVER AT THAT TIME I DIDN'T BELIEVE THERE WAS ENOUGH TIME TO DO IT. HE DID HINT THAT DURING PERIODS WHEN SUBS WOULD BE ON THE PROJECT HE MIGHT BE ABLE TO DO MINE. HE SHOULD HAVE HONORED OUR CONTRACT BY TAKING A WEEK OR SO OFF TO DO MY JOB. I WON'T CONSIDER USING HIM NOR RECOMMEND HIM TO ANYONE I KNOW!
