Great fast service. Made repairs others could not find the problems. This company had advantages by using hi end circuit tracers to fix my electrical problems. Highly recommend.

We hired Speedy to come out and replace a main breaker. I called them at noon and they were not very flexible. My girlfriend set up an appointment after that. They said they would be there at 4 and didn't show up until 6. I was hoping they could send me a bill of the service, but they needed myself or my girlfriend to sign off. They quoted us for $2000.00 for a $30 part. They said they wanted $95 for the visit after I was quoted at $65 on the phone. I said I would do it myself. The electrician then quoted for $1300.00. I again declined and said I would do this myself. He then comes back and says "how about $750.00 cash?" and this was to my girlfriend after myself and Speedy were off the phone. My girlfriend accepted the quote. The main breaker was used or not out of the box. Then, the furnace and garage door didn't work. The electrician just left the house with these issues. He left without providing a receipt for confirmation of purchase. I would not recommend this company to anyone due to the unprofessionalism they provided. I believe they were just trying to rip my girlfriend off because they didn't believe she knew any better.

He called them at 10am and they said they would be here between 12-2pm. They finally showed up at 7:30pm. They spent an hour and forty minutes trying to figure out the problem. They came out and said they couldn't figure out the problem and I needed a dedicated line for the bathroom, costing minimum of $1800. The other contractor I had out told me not to do it, he thought he knew what it was and ended up fixing a loose outlet, which fixed the problem. The invoice I received from them is not itemized and doesn't explain what the charges are for. There is a $540 charge that has no description, which they said was for them walking around looking for the problem. I feel that because I am in a wheelchair, this company saw me as an easy target and took advantage of me.

My boss had a high-pitched sound coming from an electrical outlet. A rep from Speedy electric came out promptly, then told my boss he had to pay a $95 upfront fee for their "trip charge" before he would even look at the outlet and give him a price. Against his better judgment he paid the fee. Speedy then diagnosed it as a minor problem and quoted $235 to replace the outlet! My boss lives in Fox Chapel and figured the guy was trying to rip him off, so he told him to take hike. Another electrician come out and fixed the outlet for about a quarter of the price. He was thoroughly unimpressed and will never call this company again.

I have never used an electrician before, so did not know expense-wise what was normal--just that they are known to be pricey. Both phone rep and technician very vocal about 'up front' amount of house call and work to be performed--I was stunned at prices quoted, but having no prior knowledge and needing the job done I went ahead. It was quickly determined the problem was an open neutral wire, but tracking it down was exhausting and tedious--ended up being an outlet I had pointed out at beginning as being the point where bad circuit was first noted. I had planned on having the electrician install 4 gfci outlets in the same trip, but was quoted a price of $350/outlet to install, so dropped that plan quickly. When the disconnected neutral wire outlet was found the tech decided it was a more involved install and upped the price to finish--put in a standard screw outlet in less than 5 minutes, which cost me $700 some dollars for that alone. Overall, a horrifying financial experience and one that left me feeling totally 'taken' and mistrusting of the entire profession. The main reason I joined Angie's list was the prevent any more experiences like this one. Wish I had known about it earlier. I looked at BB site and see this company has an 'F' rating with them too. Isn't hindsight wonderful--I feel very foolish, and will not rush into getting something repaired again, no matter how desperate to have it done.
