First off, I'd like to say that the technicians that came to my house seemed like very honest, well meaning workers. They worked hard, tolerated my endless questions/ideas, and seemed to want to do everything in their power to help me out. I have no issue with them, and would give each of them 5 stars. That being said, I was charged $1522 over 4 separate trips/repairs to be left with my furnace still not blowing hot air in the coldest 2 weeks of the last several years. Further, it was beginning to be suggested that if the issues persisted, we would just need to pay them another $6000 (NO DISCOUNT) for a new furnace. After the last repair/charge, the heat went out again within 20 minutes of them leaving, and I called back and was told someone would be out tomorrow at 2PM (presumably to tell me I needed to buy an new furnace from them...). Frustrated, I called Metro, and they had someone at my house by noon, and fixed the issue within half an hour for $300. I called South Hills Electric, and they refused to do literally anything to make it right. Again, I don't want to slander the good techs who worked on my furnace, but it's pretty hard to interpret that behavior as anything other than predatory. If I had charged someone $1522 to NOT fix their issue, I'd personally want to do something to make it right. Highly recommend Metro Heating and Cooling: [*** Link removed ***]

Furnace went out and wouldn't put out heat. They came and diagnosed it. They identified a blocked pressure switch which also appeared to have damage. They replaced it with an alternative part but that didn't resolve the issue. They then suggested the mainboard was broken (putting out power but not enough). They wanted to charge $350 for the pressure switch (a $60 part) and nearly a $1000 for the mainboard which they couldn't get in for weeks. Instead they pushed somewhat hard to replace the whole thing. I had another company come out and look. They identified the blocked lines to the pressure switch which they cleaned out further but then instead of suggesting that the mainboard was bad identified the bad capacitor on the blower motor. They only charged $68 for the pressure switch and $30 for the capacitor. Lesson here. Don't use South Hills for repairing a Lennox Furnace.

From estimate to scheduling to cleanup, everyone was professional, on time, and did a great job. There was no unnecessary upselling, and everything was discussed with me and/or shown to me prior to the job, or during the job if it was unexpected. (Everyone also was super kind to my very anxious dog.)

I called and the staff was very friendly. They gave me a number to text pictures to which was really nice of them. It made it super convenient to show them what needed done. However, they came back with a quote of $500-$700 which is not a fair price for this work. The new outlet and the new breaker cost less than $20 purchased from Lowe's, and the work that needs done probably won't take more than an hour or two. I will not try to use this company again because I feel that I was trying to be ripped off. I will say that they hadn't come to see the work yet, so perhaps the quote was given high just to be safe, but even so, I don't feel that $500 was reasonable at all. I'm giving a C because they were at least responsive and friendly.

It went well but the price was much higher than I would have expected to swap out a dimmer switch for a non-dimmer switch. I even bought all the equipment.

After the estimate, they came back to do the work. Told me they needed to run a new wire ,which was resonable. Then they said they need half the ceiling removed , we okayed the wire an the socket. We payed them, l looked at the bill thought it to high .Call them and they said they call back. They did not call back. I feel they tried to jack up the bill and do work that that was not needed.

"Mr. [Member Name Removed], We are very sorry that you feel we overcharged you. We did leave you a voice mail the day after you called stating the price was too high after the work was completed. We came to your home to diagnose your front porch not working. We did not charge you to diagnose it. We gave you an estimate to replace your broken porch light and install a new outlet. We had to install a new breaker, run electrical wire, install a box in the wall, install outlets and switches. We feel that 455.00 is a fair price. We did not charge you 875.00 as you stated"

The service guys were great. South Hills took the order, but the service guys admitted they had never worked on a pool heat pump in his 35 yrs. of servicing. He said he would do his best to figure the problem out. Two men worked for 2 hrs., but were unable to rectify the issue. They charged me the minimum of $109. The service guys were wonderful, but said there company should never have taken the order.

We had initially planned to work with another company, but their technicians fell ill and the project was delayed longer than we could accept. Reviews of South Hills Electric were very good, so I contacted them to bid. The initial technician they sent out underbid the project and didn't fully review all our needs. I discovered the missing information on the bid (lesson learned: always review all the details!) the day before the work was to be done. I called the office and expressed my concerns. Donna sent Natalie out to review the situation that afternoon. The quote was re-bid significantly higher than the original. However, given the situation, they renegotiated a compromise. Natalie and another technician (I'm sorry I don't remember his name) came out on time the next day. All work was performed professionally, efficiently, safely, and completely. After they left, one GFCI outlet in the kitchen wasn't working. Natalie came back immediately and replaced the outlet. She was very thorough as she worked with all of our (very old) wiring, rewrapping, capping and grounding as needed. I feel so much safer and our new fixtures look great (we bought them, but they installed). I would certainly contract with this company again.

I'd been told heating and A/C companies could do this service for me. The ones I reached out to for a quote all told me very politely they didn't offer that service. But this company did some follow up and found a couple recommendations for me as well. If they have enough integrity to help find a service for someone they can't make money off of, that counts as a pretty good company in my book.

The electrician called before coming and asked to start early. That worked out fine. A surge blew out the fuse in the blower and there was no heat. The fuse was replaced and I had heat within the hour. I have hired them before and I would hire them again.

I don’t write a ton of reviews unless someone is EXCEPTIONAL or tries to scam me. Sadly, this is a tale of the latter. I believe this is a total bait and switch. During the annual inspection, the employee shut off the gas valve BEHIND my furnace about 2/3 of the way - consensus is they were trying to do it without me noticing since it is fairly easy to be all the way on/off if you want it to be. If it had ALWAYS been 2/3 shut…the furnace would never have worked and it ran just fine for a month and a half before the annual inspection. Company employee was over the top about my furnace and how old it was from the moment he looked at it. He said when he disconnected his pressure measuring instrument from the INTERIOR gas valve...the furnace wouldn't light back up and the interior valve had failed. Company rep called back two hours later and said they warned me about the gas valve two years ago...on the work order, there is a summary of the findings and work performed on the first page followed by a page and a half a legal jargon and in a TINY box on the third page was a note that the gas valve was old...two years ago no one said that to me and I can't, nor could the company, explain why it wasn't in the main notes. All the folks that came to give me quotes to replace the furnace, (I declined these clowns since I already felt it was a bait and switch and sketchy) noted 1) furnace was older, 2) there is some rust that should have been caught on past inspections, 3) IF the $400 gas valve worked, they wouldn't replace the unit...but $400 is 10% of a brand new unit. My neighbor came over to look at my electrical panel when space heaters kept tripping breakers as we waited for a new furnace. He wanted to take a look at the furnace and showed me the main shut off was 2/3 turned off behind the furnace. He opened it all the way, and the furnace fired right up and worked perfectly...in the mean time I had already signed a contract and paid a 50% deposit for a new furnace. When I called the company to share my conspiracy theory and how well the furnace was working you could hear the hesitation as they, too, put 2+2 together and saw it added up to SCAM. But they maintained that all they could do is take $400 off a new furnace…which by the way, was still more expensive than every other quote other than Costco.

"Hi [Member Name Removed], Let me start by saying I'm sorry this happened to you and I can understand you are upset. I'm just having trouble understanding how you would think this is a total bait and switch. I spoke with the technician and he said that you were standing right there when he shut the switch on the gas valve off. Unfortunately when we went to re-energize the gas valve the switch malfunction, this does happen from time to time.
