Called Ryan's in the morning... they had the windshield in stock. Went to the Sharpsburgs shop and the people were very professional and first rate. Left an hour later very happy with a new windshield and a very pleasant experience. Highly recommended.

I was visiting the University of Pittsburgh during a college road trip with my wife and daughter and  my vehicle was vandalized overnight while it was parked in a garage next to my hotel. After notifying the hotel management, the Pittsburgh police and my insurance company of the incident I phoned Ryan's Auto Glass at 1600 Forbes Avenue an spoke to the co-manager of the shop, Norm Osthoff. Norm assured me that if I could get the vehicle to his shop ASAP he could have the job done by 4 pm the same day. That was good news because we had to drive nearly 350 miles home later that evening and I did not want to make the trip with plastic trash bags taped over the window. I arrived at the shop around 1 pm and Norm handled my situation quickly, efficiently, professionally, and cheerfully and he even loaned me one of their shop's vehicles so that I could return to the university. That level of customer service was above what I could have ever hoped for and the work was completed by 4 pm. Great work, outstanding customer service, and Norm Is a great guy! I am very grateful to him and his team and pleased with the outcome! Thank you!

My entire experience was excellent.

The experience started with a little snafu (my fault) - I called and asked Ryan's (Pittsburgh-Forbes ave location) how long it would take for a windshield repair.  I was told that repairs take 15 minutes.  When I arrived Friday morning, it turned out that putting in a new windshield is actually a replacement (repairing the windshield means fixing the existing one).  It would take 45 minutes.  Being short on time, I agreed to come back later for the repair.  The guy working the counter was very polite and apologized for the confusion.

When I returned a few hours later, they were able to fix my windshield quickly, and gave me a good rate because I brought the car in and had to come back.  While I waited, I also overheard a few phone calls.  Even when it sounded like a tough client on the other end, the staff at Ryan's were patient, polite, and helpful.

All in all, these guys are a class act and run an A+ shop.  I'll definitely go back to them again.

Other things you should know about:

• If you have time, take your car into Ryan's.  The "delivery" replacement service has a 4-8 hour window and may need to be set up a day or two in advance.
• As of this review, PA only requires insurance companies to provide full coverage on repairs.  Windshield replacements are subject to your deductible.  Odds are you'll be paying $250 - $350 out of pocket for a full windshield replacement unless your deductible is low.
• It is illegal for windshield replacement companies to transfer your existing inspection stickers and transfer them to the new windshield.  You can get them replaced for a nominal fee if you take your replacement receipt to an inspection shop - provided the stickers aren't expired and you have your old inspection report.
• Some facilities may get testy if they didn't do your last inspection, so try to go back to your usual inspection station

We had called another provider in Sharpsburg and got a price of $20 for just the glass. I didn't ask for installation costs (because I felt they would have to see the window to know how hard or easy the installation would be - The frame and molding were all metal, so It was not an installation I felt I could comfortably do at home). Driving through Sharpsburg with the broken storm window we passed Ryan's Auto Glass and noticed on the sign that they also did storm windows. So we took the window inside and got the price $15 for the glass (double strength - standard for storm windows) installed - ready the next day (Friday). We paid in advance and left the window - delighted at th price.. Since I was going out of town for the weekend, I didn't call until Monday morning. I was told it was ready, so I picked up the window which was nicely repaired. I am delighted with the job that they did at a very good price.

Stopped at their Sharpsburg location in the morning to ask about a replacement side mirror for my car. They didn't have that particular mirror in stock, but could order and get it by 2 PM. I placed the order and returned later that afternoon. They replaced the mirror while I waited.

VERY GOOD WORK PERFORMED BY THE INSTALLER. WE WILL USE THEM AGAIN IF WE HAVE TO.

THEY WERE PROMPT AND DID A GOOD JOB IN REPLACING OUR WINDSHIELD. THEY WERE VERY COURTEOUS AND DID QUALITY WORK.

WHEN I CALLED THE BUSINESS THEY DIDN'T HAVE THE WINDOW I NEEDED IN STOCK, SO THEY SAID THEY WOULD ORDER IT FROM ANOTHER ONE OF THEIR STORES. I THOUGHT I WOULD BE TOLD THEY WOULD HAVE IT IN A DAY OR TWO, BUT THE GENTLEMAN TOLD BE TO BE THERE IN 2 HOURS. TO MY SURPRISE THE WINDOW WAS THERE AND INSTALLED IN LESS THEN 20 MINUTES.

PUNCTUAL, COURTEOUS, AND HELPFUL WITH INSURANCE.

THEY DID AN EXCELLENT JOB RIGHT IN OUR DRIVEWAY. THEY REMOVED THE OLD WINDSHIELD WITHOUT ANY PROBLEM AND HAD THE NEW ONE IN WITHIN THE HOUR.

THE JOB DOES NOT TAKE LONG TO COMPLETE. THE TECHNICIAN CAME TO OUR HOUSE TO PERFORM THE REPAIR. TOTAL SERVICE CALL WAS COMPLETED WITHIN 45 MINUTES. THE CHIP REPAIR IS HOLDING UP WELL APPROXIMATELY 9 MONTHS AFTER SERVICE CALL.
