Insurance Agencies
They recently requested from the state a 28% increase in premiums, split into two years, 14% this fall and 14% next year. I requested a letter from Prudential stating the reasons that they gave the Pennsylvania Insurance Commission justifying the necessity of this increase. I have been refused by the agent, the vice president of the company by the name of Emanuel, and the local office. In fact, they refused to send me any letter with reason given for the rate increase, and would only tell me that I was welcome to change my insurance plan. The Pennsylvania Insurance Commission sent me a letter explaining that Prudential had requested a rate increase and they it had been approved, but would not release any specific information. I would just like to see the letter that Prudential sent to the Pennsylvania Insurance Commission requesting the increase. The price increase is unconscionable, and has been treated as a state secret. Their communication has been abysmal, and I have been stonewalled at every turn. Their health care coverage has been excellent, but not at the new price. I feel as though I deserve an explanation, but have been effectively shut out by everyone with whom I have spoken.
