He gave us an honest assessment of the cost of the repair vs the value of the clock so we could make a decision.
The clock needed to be retuned after repair, and Neil picked it up, repaired it, and returned it to us at no charge. Very ethical and reliable provider.
Clock could not be fixed in house and had to be removed . I do not know how the guts of the clock was reversed to jam chains into the mechanism since I have never had to have the clock repaired outside of the house before .. i never saw anyone unscrew the entire mechanism out of the body and I have owned this clock since 1973 and never had this problem before where it jammed up. I have no idea how this happened.
"Customer hired me to set up her 1973 grandfather clock after a moving company relocated her belongings. I set up the clock as requested ,oiled the movement, leveled the clock and instructed the customer as to how to regulate the timekeeping by adjusting the pendulum nut and even gave her a paper showing which direction to adjust for fast and slow regulation. I explained there was wear and tear in her movement and that it might need further work in the future. As to reversing the clock movement this is not possible, how would you put the hands on if the movement was reversed?? I wish the customer had called me to report this problem a year ago when I did the service call, as I would have gladly returned to her home to adjust her clock a second time at no charge. Reading the review is the first I have heard of the complaint. Neil"
