Completely unprofessional. Dishonest about services provided. Terrible job cleaning. Disrespectful when asked to provide feedback and you do so. They decided to remove me from the schedule when they asked if my second cleaning was any better than the first. I provided photos of the dust and remaining dirt that were unacceptable for a combined spend of almost $700 for 2 cleanings (the first of which was supposed to be a deep cleaning). The leadership team was snippy and rude. Would not recommend to anyone.

was okay about 50% of the time. they were always in a hurry and broke a number of nicknacks. I was really disappointed when we left and they still hit us with the early termination fee even through the agreed that the service was poor.

We contracted with Merry Maids to have bi weekly cleanings and after the first session, we noticed that the maids had stolen from us. We alerted the franchise owner who smugly denied that an employee of hers would steal, hung up the phone, and quickly processed a $400 early cancellation fee without any type of investigation. Luckily for us, AMEX is stepping up in a big way in helping us to dispute the charge and combat Merry Maids. We're extremely shocked and disappointed that a business that we trusted to enter our home is practicing such dishonest practices. We're also filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. Please avoid this organization at all costs.

We have been using Merry Maids of Pittsburgh for nearly a year and are extremely satisfied with their service. The people who clean our very large house are highly efficient, very professional, and pay close attention to details. They always ask if there are any additional special tasks that they can do for us. The people who do the cleaning are always friendly and keenly interested in ensuring we are satisfied with their work. The cost is certainly worth the excellent service we receive.

DO NOT HIRE MERRY MAIDS. For starters, they are too expensive. they do not provide the services promised. They claim to do all the cleaning in the home, but all they do is vacuum and wipe things down. They are in and out in less then an hour and wreak of smoke. I am very easy to work with and don't mind paying for quality work. They do NOT provide quality work.
Although the office offered to send back the ladies to re-clean, it was too little to late. I do not want to have to call each time I have a cleaning (which I had to do). I did not receive what was promised in the contract. DO NOT HIRE THESE PEOPLE.

The good:
-They always showed up on the scheduled day.
-The cleaning crew is always friendly and good with my pets and kids. They're nice people. I trusted them to not steal from us or snoop unnecessarily. That said, I do have locks on certain cabinets and I use them.
The bad:
-The service is inadequate and inconsistent. Something is always missed and they refuse to move small(ish) items to dust/vacuum/mop around them. For example, I have a boot tray in my mudroom that needs to be pulled out from under a bench and vacuumed behind. It has felt pads on the bottom, and it sits on a stone tile floor (i.e. no damage to floor). The crew never, ever moved the tray to clean around and under it. Many times they mopped around door mats, pet bowls, and kitchen stools rather than move them. I asked the manager to come to my home in 12/12 to see what wasn't being done. Despite promises to change the way they clean my house, and my offers to pay more, nothing changed.
-They refuse to dust electronics. I can understand this... to a point. If I specifically request it with the understanding that a cord might be jarred loose, then it should be done.
-They have a rotating "deep clean" room schedule. This means that if the kitchen is not the "focus" room for that week, the stove doesn't get cleaned. I requested to have certain rooms (kitchen, bathrooms, mudroom) "deep cleaned" each and every visit, and offered to pay appropriately. This never happened.
-Sometimes I just walked through the house after they left and cleaned the things they missed. Sometimes I let them know. Each time I let the management know something was missed, I was given a lot of excuses and reminded about how "good" a crew really was.
-There seems to be a quick turnover in cleaners. I saw a lot of new faces. I requested when we first met with management that this not happen, because I prefer to get to know a crew that I can trust, and see them consistently. That didn't happen either.

We had merry maids service for about 2 years. In the beginning they
were ok and the cleaning was ok. Occasionally they would miss cleaning
the couches of miss scrubbing the floor. We would bring it to their
attention and they would correct it the next time. They promised that
the same cleaning people would be doing the job so that they get to know
the customer and the customers preferences however there was usually
someone different each time.
Let me be as objective as possible and summarize the issues with this VERY POORLY managed company.
BOTTOM LINE
1)Average cleaning often missing things.
2)Different people each time
3)The
staff often smoked and had bad lung disease (COPD). I noticed how
short of breath they were and this is probably why at times things would
be missed. Occasionally while I was at home I noticed how ill they were
and I felt wrong to ask them to complete certain things. Some had very
severe emphysema with weight loss. They were obviously unable to
perform the job at hand with this condition.
4)They advertise that
with certain packages each time there is a clean there will be a
specific (spring cleaning) focus area. THAT NEVER HAPPENED.
5)They company is very dishonest. This statement needs some explaining so see the dishonesty paragraph below.
6)For
the amount of time that they spend the price is definitely not worth
it. They are often done in 1 hour or so. Seems the system is designed
based on quantity not quality.
DISHONESTY EXPLANATION
At the end of our time with Merry Maids (we were using them for about 2-3 years
at this point) we complained that the clean was awful. I noticed that
the floors were not mopped or swept. There was food crumbs left and
they were very obvious to the untrained eye. It seemed the bath tub was
still dirty as well and the sinks were barely clean. We called them and
they said that they will have someone come out and fix the clean. An
hour later the manager called us back and said actually the maids felt
that your house had cat stains and smelled like animals and we dont feel
that it is safe for our maids to come and clean your house until we are
able to come out and evaluate your house for safety reasons. First
off, we do have two cats. Second they have never ever urinated or pooped
on the floors ever. Also, the cat litter is downstairs in the basement
and cleaned quite well. Other than that we have no other animals. I
said to the manager that they are probably confusing us with another
customer. They said no we are not and we have discussed this with you
in the past. THEY NEVER DISCUSSED THIS WITH US!! I was shocked and
disgusted. I spoke with the general manager and she was on the side of
the maids. They refused to come out and look at the house within any
reasonable period of time and so we fired them and they DID REFUND the
last clean however.
We were so offended and we were even concerned that maybe there was a scent in our house that we
were unaware of. We asked our cat sitter and she is very honest and said there is no such scent. We asked out friends and we even asked another cleaning service and they also said there is no such issue.

I want to say that we since hired Mr. Maids. This company is fantastic,
very timely, very professional and offers consistent cleans. They treat
their staff quite well and I think it shows.***

I've used Merry Maids several times and I've been very happy with their services. They've saved me a lot of time and trouble, since I used to drive out to do the job myself.

Diann came to my home to give me an estimate. I explained that I needed someone to come to my house on Wednesdays (Wednesdays ONLY) because of outside commitments. We discussed the schedule and determined that I would have to wait two weeks before I could get on the regular schedule. That was okay, since I had plenty of warning, but the night before they were supposed to start she called to tell me that they had two cleaners quit unexpectedly and they would have to bump me another week (this is three weeks now since I signed the contract). They were supposed to start today. I did not receive a phone call about the time they would be here today, so I called the office this morning and was told I wasn't on the schedule for today and would have to wait until next week (and he tried to schedule me for MONDAY). This is A MONTH after I signed the contract. I told the owner, Ken, to cancel my contract and I will find someone else. I am very disappointed. I needed this work done. ($170.00)

Ken, the owner is very nice. Said he could send two people the next day. (Should have been a warning to me). This company did a really good job for me four years ago...but this was inexcusable. The quantity of work accomplished was disappointing and haphazard. They left obvious things undone---smudges not wiped, furniture not moved to sweep, mold still in shower (they complained of soap scum on my shower door and how long that took to clean---it takes me all of 10 minutes). Didn't even that trickey area behind faucets. By the time they made their way to the bedroom they were already out of time...only made the bed and swept around furniture. To the owner's credit, he and staff came back to see the work and he admitted some things were done poorly and said that both workers were new. Well ---thanks a lot ken---that makes no sense if you want to endear new customers. He was pretty much satisfied with the work and offered nothing to compensate.

The man I talked to on the phone was very nice and helpful. I was limited in the price I could afford, so he offered me 2 people for 1 hour. The girls were relatively young, but they worked well. The timeliness of the response was great. (They were able to come with very little notice.)
