Mario and his crew do great work; we were happy with the first job he did for us so we went back to him for a much larger job, and were so pleased with that job that we went back to him for a third job. He is enjoyable to work with, and I recommend him for any remodeling you have in mind. Mario came recommended so we contacted him about a small job - knocking out some drywall and replacing a standard closet door with two bifold doors. Ours is a duplex so closet space is at a premium, and with a regular door we just didn't have access to the whole space. Mario got back in touch right away, gave us a nice bid, and started when we needed. We went to the store together to get materials as needed. During the demo he found that the old closet door was in a metal frame, but he had the tools to remove that. He fashioned a wooden casing for the doors that matched the others in the hallway. The result looks great and now we can fully use the space. We had become comfortable working with Mario so asked him to bid on a big basement remodel. We had just had the old carpeting and some old tiles removed from the half bath and rec room and wanted a lot of work done: removing old mastic from the floors and stairs and demoing the old "wood" paneling and drop ceiling; installing new drywall walls and ceiling; installing a heated floor with tile; installing new lights and a TV mount; installing a new sink, vanity, light, towel hook, and floor in our half bath; replacing a dirty, old, huge concrete utility sink with a space-saving plastic one and installing new plumbing to go with it; installing new flooring for the utility room and hallway; and installing new stairs. Mario provided a written bid we found reasonable and so we accepted it. He and his crew were able to get started pretty much right away and worked pretty much straight through until the job was complete (save some touch-ups here and there), which took about two and a half weeks. (Having had a prolonged, bad experience with a Lowes remodel last year I was astonished at how quickly Mario and his group did their work. Probably because it was a big job it was attractive to schedule as a block.) Materials I bought as needed, and then I paid labor as we went along. There were some changes along the way -- I would think of something to add, even something far afield like replacing the ceiling lights in our bedrooms; or else he would encounter something that required additional effort -- for example, we removed one corner of the rec room and found that a wall mosaic hadn't been extended, so if we didn't do something there it would look strange (Mario solved this by cutting and painting a piece of wood to fix that area up nicely). All the additions were handled straightforwardly; the labor costs always struck me as reasonable, and either I went with him to get the materials, or he would go and provide the receipts and we'd square those away. As far as design, I picked the tile, lights, light locations, vanity, and paint colors, but Mario had a great suggestion for the hallway / utility room / half bath floor. I'd thought tile was my only good option, but he assured me that he'd used this one epoxy -- you "paint" it onto the (concrete) floor -- and that it would look really good. The picture he had from another job looked just "okay" but it was going to be far less time and expense and by then I trusted him so I decided to just run with it. Well, boy am I glad we followed his advice. Those areas of the floor were finished in maybe two days, and they look great, really brightening the space. I can say that before the remodel, our basement had been just like a dark cave, -- it was functional, but no one really enjoyed themselves there. After Mario and his crew did their work that basement is so inviting. The new drywall walls and ceilings they put up look really good, a vast improvement over the "wood" paneling. And we added a lot of new lights, which Mario and his colleague Alberto put up despite the challenge of our low ceilings. Little things did come up which needed fixing, but Mario came back out to fix them all, no questions asked. Examples: some paint had gotten on the sidewalk outside, leaving a stain; or, one corner of the utility room epoxy had a bubble which cracked and flaked, needing to be replaced. In these cases, I would text Mario he agreed to come remedy the situation. By then of course he was working on other jobs so couldn't always come within a day, but I didn't find the delays unreasonable, as these were things that could wait, and so we just found mutually acceptable times. On the other hand, once when there was something more important to me -- an old ethernet cable hadn't been replaced but sure enough needed to have been, and until it was we couldn't really take advantage of the room -- Mario came out to do that quickly. So, there were touch-ups here and there, but when I mentioned them they were all addressed, and in what I felt to be an appropriate length of time depending on the issue. I had real nightmares with my other major remodeling so I was pleased with Mario's responsiveness. Being happy with the basement and the closet, a few months later we contacted Mario for a third job - our kitchen. We sought to replace the old tube lights and drop ceiling and if possible install a new range hood with fan. Mario and his crew took finished the job in a few days, certainly under a week, again leaving us pleased with the result. In conclusion, we have been very pleased with all the work Mario did for us.
