I have lived over half a century, traveled across the USA and to other countries, and eaten at literally thousands of restaurants in my lifetime. To the best of my memory, Mamma Lucia's Pizzeria behind Northway Mall in McCandless, PA, which I have eaten at several times over the past two years, comes in as the number one WORST Restaurant in all of Pittsburgh! No kidding!
Though some of the pizza slices are edible, other dishes were absolutely terrible... And I am not a fussy eater! Some actually made me sick. Others just lacked all seasoning and flavor.
The staff there does not simply dislike the customers, and ignore them, they actually hate the customers with a passion! It shows very clearly on their faces and their attitudes. It is a dirty little dive. Diner beware!
Now, here is the really interesting part. And any local resident of this neighborhood can verify this for you: Not more than 2 or 3 hundred yards to the east of this location, at the strip-mall by Babcock and Perry Hwy, is another little dive of the same size as Mamma Lucias with the same number of staff. It is called "Kelly O's," and it is rated as the number one BEST little café in all of Pittsburgh! Not just my opinion, folks... Hollywood came out and filmed them for the TV Show "Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives," they are so good. Movie star and chef Guy Fieri rated some of Kelly O's dishes as the best in the State!
