The medicine cabinet is original to the house, so it's about 100 years old. The previous owners to the house covered it's frame with gold leaf and I wanted that sanded smooth and painted. He did that portion of the job in only two days: sanded smooth the medicine cabinet; primed and painted it. Then he removed the wallpaper that remained on the walls that the previous workman failed to remove. Joe saved the day, and used the proper tools to get all of the wallpaper off. He works very hard, is meticulous, and it shows that he's had years of experience in the painting business.

The Estimated completion date from Joe for the whole Job was appx 2 months, Initially Joe showed up in good faith and began the job he was supposed to repair and glue up / repair  all loose wallpaper in the upstairs apartment and then prime and paint with colors that we provided him.  After he had let me know that he was done with the upstairs 2 months had already passed, when we came to inspect the finished portion of the work, wallpaper edges were still hanging, and the patterns of the wallpaper were visible THROUGH the paint. I was a bit disappointed with the quality of the work at that point, I let Joe know that if he would stay on track and finish I would accept that situation, but wanted him to secure all of the loose edges of the wallpaper. From that point forward he consistently told me he was "coming back to finish the interior stairway, and get the outside done before the winter, which was the primary thrust of the project as we had peeling paint on the exterior that I did not want to see winter. .
Joe would skip weekends telling me he wanted to enjoy this nice weather .etc..etc  I was very understanding always reiterating that I NEED a completion date.  I have a LOOOOoonng stream of texts between Joe and I for months and months, but he never showed to finish the job, on SEPT 30th !! he told me he was "real busy" and to get someone else to do the work !!!  A FULL 6 months from our start date  and heading into the winter he told me he was too busy to finish.. I felt like one of those poor folks on the news with a hole in their house and a contractor that is "in the wind".  Joe received the first 25% of the $$ which came to like $1500. But the money was never the issue, his work was poor and ultimately he screwed me over on this job. I was always a gentleman, (as I own a service business and know how it can be) I agreed to pay his asking price, I did not give him a hard time, and this is the result I ended up with . We were unable to engage someone else before the winter, and I am still in a bad situation with the exterior of that building.  Holy Crap !! I can only assume that either his previous reviews were fraudulent, (which was the basis for hiring him in the first place)  or he decided to change his business model to the above.  I am only thankful I did not recommend him to anyone.  This is a shame because I really got the impression that Joe was a stand up guy, and I have a couple of properties that always need this and that done.  Oh Well ..

The job went very smoothly from initial phone call to finished job. He was very quick to respond to my message asking for a quote, came the same day to look at the job, and came the following week to finish it up. He was neat, on time, and professional. We would definitely hire him again.

Before I actually do this review I want to make one thing very clear.
I am not a person who normally writes reviews. The reason for this is because I
am usually disappointed in the work that most people do. I believe
most workers fall into one of three categories:
Category 1 would be the person who comes to do the job and does a horrendous job. The work is so bad that
you're sorry you even ever hired them in the first place.
Category 2 is the person that comes, does the job, and does exactly what they're supposed to do. Nothing special, they just gets the job done. you pay them and they leave.
Category 3, I call the AMAZING CATEGORY. This is the category that Joe the painter falls under. A person in this category would come and do an outstanding job at a fair price. Everything you'd expect and more. I have found that jobs (such as painting) to turn out with an outstanding result, require a large amount of time spent on mentally thinking the job through as well as the time spent, properly preparing the site. ( Joe gets an A+ in this area). Furthermore, a person in the Amazing category would not only be pleasant but also considerate of your time. ( Again, Joe met this criteria as well).
In closing, I can honestly say that Joe the painter did an overall outstanding job and I would recommend him to anyone. I absolutely will be using Joe again and I consider myself very. very fortunate that I found such an outstanding painter when I found Joe. Do yourself a favor...hire Joe and then, Pay it forward by passing on his name. You will be very happy !!

He was a very nice man. He put one coat of paint on the wall, and had to come back and repaint - he even paid for the paint.

Joe was always professional. We appreciated that he offered us less expensive alternatives for making repairs. He was very honest and punctual.
We were also grateful that he was able to come to the hosue during the day and we did not have to worry about anything. He worked diligently and was finished with every thing in 3 days.

Joe painted trim in living, dining and entry way. Joe also repair sheet rock in hallway, painted hallway, trim and doors. He painted front bedroom built-in, trim and doors. He was always on time very easy to work with. I was called out of town and Joe had to work with my neighbors to schedule times for him to work. My neighbors were very impressed the the work he completed. Joe also power washed my patio and driveway. This was my first experience with Angie's list and I am very happy with the work that Joe the Painter did for me. I will call him again and so will my neighbors.

We prepared a work list, sent it to Joe and asked for itemized pricing. The list was finalized after walk-through in the house . He gave us good advice that affected decisions on how to perform several items. The work took about 3 days to complete.
Joe was unfailingly on time, professional and polite. Work quality very good; responsiveness and listening to the customer excellent. Although initially we went to him for interior painting, his capability goes further, into general handyman work.
Would definitely hire him again for similar work. !

Could not have been better. Joe was meticulous, polite, didn't rush, was patient and responsive to our iterations on color, and tried out several sample colors on different walls before we selected the one that was "just right". He didn't try to increase the price for this indecision (perhaps because my wife was the one running back and forth to the paint store). We had a few touch ups needed at the end of the job and he handled this well and cheerfully. He gave us a very high quality job and was very professional with his work. We could not be more pleased.

Excellent experience. Joe communicated well, was punctual, and worked efficiently and did a great job. I am already planning the next project that I will have him price out.
