I have had so many horrific and costly experiences with home services that I felt I had neither the energy nor funds to go through it again, no matter how badly I needed to have work done. But I ventured to join Angie's List at the insistence of others and discovered Mr. Fitzgerald, who lives within five miles of my home but would otherwise have remained unknown to me. I left a message and he promptly returned my call. He explained that he was out of state for some weeks. He asked the nature of the work required, provided his anticipated return date, and said he would contact me within a week of his return if I felt that arrangement met my needs. It did, he called, and he provided a proposal and performed the work in short order. He is dependable, prompt, unintrusive, informative, very organized and respectful of myself and my home and he brought a gentle, quiet sense of humor which helped enormously to calm my sorely taxed nerves. His cost for one portion of service was less than half that in a written proposal from another provider. His work is excellent. He is scheduled to begin another project at my home-- deck and outdoor furniture cleaning, staining and sealing-- next week. Mr. Fitzgerald is a consummate professional and I hope to continue in a working relationship with him for years to come.

Jim's Home Services he was excellent. His rates were very reasonable. Here is my thing, if I leave a voice mail message and you are a contractor I expect an immediate call back. When I say immediate call I mean you call me within 24, 48 hours. You call me back within that period of time. Obviously you are not interested in getting my business, so a prompt follow up, being here on time when he said, the work was done excellent, he did the work handyman would do, and he was proficient in everything.

I have also used Jim to install wooden blinds in 17 windows - as usual, he did an excellent job at a fair price.

We had a bathroom with a shower that had repeatedly leaked and had to be fixed in the past. It was time to start from scratch. Jim tore out the old shower, which it turned out had a shower built on top of the original shower stall. He then put in new cement board, applied the Schluter waterproofing system, tiled the shower stall, including building a tile seat in the corner, waterproofed and tiled the floor of the bathroom, put in the new vanity and medicine cabinets. As part of the project, we needed to eliminate the door which took up 1/3 of the useful floor space in the bathroom. We purchased a barn door rail system, and Jim figured out how to dig a slot into a closet for the door to go when opened -- we could not use a regular pocket door as there were pipes in the wall. Jim's work was innovative when it had to be and excellent all around. A wonderful job.

Jim has done other work for me in the past (long omni-stone path and steps with railroad tie border, repaired a sub-floor, replaced a damaged piece of wood around a large window), and as has always been the case, his work was excellent. The new tile floor looks perfect, the new vanity and sink look great, and we had to figure out how to work in fixtures that were designed for openings that were further apart, but he worked around the issue very well, the plaster work is perfect, and all of the detail work was very well done. He is great to work with.

The bathroom tile seemed to be just one piece or two, but Jim found mold behind part of the wall on that side of the tub, and pulled out all of the tile that was on bad plaster, and redid the section so well that it is virtually impossible to tell where the repair started and stopped. He helped fit in a larger storage cabinet than we had originally figured we could use, and that was very helpful in making the area neater. The other items were also done in a very professional manner. Jim is very helpful in planning and executing his work. I have used him several times in the past as well, and he does very good work.
