Jerry started off being professional, neat and punctual, but halfway through project his work became sloppier, he didn't show up or return calls for days at a time to me or the kitchen designer he was working with, he added additional last minute costs.  We had to hire someone else to complete the project (approx. 12 hours of work).  There was nothing we could do because he was already paid in full.  It is very unfortunate because he is very talented man.  We are not sure what happened with him.  I have since spoke with another customer that had very similar issues with him as well.  We would not call him EVER again.   I also found pieces of hardwood floor that were ripped out of dining room thrown in my back yard as spring came around and he left the door open constantly and the dog would run away.

"THE TRUTH here is that all things went well, until we needed a gas line run . This was not part of the scope of my estimate. The plumber that i originally contacted , was not able to do the work. Member did not know a plumber. I contacted one and told him we were in a hurry,he complied and charges under $500.oo for his services. I told him to do the work. Member went BALLISTIC because he did not AUTHORIZE this cost on the gas line, which in the scope of the whole job, was small. There was also the incident where Member told her son to close the garage door and when it came down it crushed my tile saw .I was cutting the tiles in the garage, out of the rain. There was a bit of a problem with them replacing that saw. Even after this Member had me(and I agreed to) work in her powder room. We did have several delays with the cabinets not being right, parts that needed reordered, doors that needed repainted. All not my fault. My costs for taking out a wall between 2 rooms, putting in a steel beam , and rebuilding her kitchen, doing glass tile work on the backsplashes, etc. was at the $15000.oo range. I'm not sure why she marked the cost at $40.000.oo As I was at the end of the job and Member said that everything looked great I was paid in full. There were some replacement cabinet parts that had not arrived- The cabinet company was going to pay me an additional $300.oo to install them when they arrived. Member was supposed to call me . I never got the call, but later found out that the Cabinet Designer did the work and took the check that was supposed to be for me.I carry my phone at all times, and answer calls as soon as I can. The only delays on this job were waiting for parts. As Member stated I'm very talented and I go out of my way to make things look right and work well. I can't explain the flooring in the back yard as I had either dumpsters on the property or made weekly trips to the dump to haul away the debris."

The experience was great. I emailed Mr. Ondo and he called me within the hour. He was at my house writing up the estimate forty five minutes after that. He helped us pick out a color for a space which is huge, but could easily have come out looking like a dungeon. He was fast but always tidy.

Jerry arrived promptly for the estiimate, gave us a price within 3 days. When we asked questions to clarify, the answers were clear and professional. As soon as the contract was accepted the work was scheduled quickly. He works well, showing up every day, and does good finish work.

We initially contracted with Jerry Ondo for the painting. Once he was at the house and stated on preparation work for the painting, we found Jerry invaluable for practical, sensible, cost effective advice and assistance for both jobs that he was doing for us and jobs that we had taken on ourselves. Jerry always looked at tasks from our point of view with a focus on quality, workmanship and value. Working with Jerry was like having a partner more than a contractor. His advice and guidance minimized the anxiety and aggravation of the remodeling process and helped us more quickly reach remodeling decisions that we were comfortable with.

The problem was a drain pipe that was installed but not sealed (glued). A master plumber wrote a letter that it was definitely due to the kitchen remodeling, and that there is no way that the unsealed pipe could have been an old pipe as Jerry Ondo is claiming. We have pictures of the pipe (since all of our basement walls and ceiling had to be removed), and everyone concludes that this was due to the kitchen remodeling, except for the contractor who was responsible for the project. Jerry originally did the repair of our basement, but then mailed me a bill with a letter that said that it wasn't his fault. I'm going to recover my losses from the insurance company, but I am very disappointed in his lack of professionalism, and I would not recommend him or hire him again.

"In regards to the customer's kitchen, the plumbing leak occurred down stream from the elbow that I installed. The pipes that leaked were in a separate joist space from where I made my connections. I did tell the customers that If the leak was caused by me I would put the basement bathroom back together at no charge, but if I was not at fault I would have to bill them for my time. They agreed and I proceeded to remodel their basement bathroom. Due to the fact that I don't feel that I caused the leak I did submit a bill for my time to be paid by the customer's insurance company. I never made any demands to be paid immediately. Neither my insurance company or the customers insurance company have done conclusive investigations, I have worked with the customers, even dropping other work to accommodate them, being that they had guests visiting on the 17th of Sept. The customer's kitchen is beautiful, as stated in her earlier comments. Her basement bathroom ( which had been done in 1970's paneling,) is now updated, functional and more attractive. The customer's only real complaint is that they are looking to recover their insurance deductible."

The schedule was interrupted by a medical problem, but Jerry was always in contact with us and we were very pleased with the end result. Jerry worked with us, and it was very easy to communicate with him.

"this also has to do with the complaint on the water leak- Insurance investigators and an Independent Adjuster all agreed in a report from the hearing held 6-17-10,that Jerry Ondo painting and remodeling WAS NOT responsible for the pipes that leaked into the basement bathroom. As of 12-05-10 almost 15 months after repairing the damage to the bathroom,I still have not been paid for the work completed, even though the members and I had an agreement that if I was not responsible for the leak i would be paid for repairs to the damaged area."

It went very well. The appointment was made about 2 weeks after we said we wanted to go ahead with the work Jerry bought the paints according to the color chips I showed him (price included in estimate), and he and his coworkers did a careful job, especially with the chair rail, the window panes, and other trim. It turned out that the color of the walls in the family room and eating area under the rail was not what I had anticipated. I called him on night 3, and even though his workers had already painted two coats it was no problem to redo it with a paint more closely matched to what I had expected originally; that cost an extra $40, which was more than fair. The workers carefully moved the furniture around to paint and then put it back, and were very helpful all around. My advice would be to clarify how long the paint job will take and after the first day, what time the painters would show up & leave each day (one day differed from the others).

Jerry returned the call & visited for an estimate within a few days. I canceled the first starting date due to carpeting delays. After choosing new carpeting and a new color scheme a second date was set. It was to be a 3 day project. On day 1, Jerry called to say they'd be 1.5 hrs late. They arrived as stated. He went over everything with me and a 2 man crew then left. The crew did a great job of draping everything, prepping the walls, vacuuming at the end of the day & cleaning all residue from my laundry tubs. On day 3 Mark advised that some of the patch work didn't look up to snuff to him. He called Jerry who came, checked it and said to redo those spots. This was done on day 4 by Mark. On day 5, only Jerry arrived for the finish work. He put one coat on in the AM and the second in the afternoon. His end of day clean up would be a strong B but Mark and Carlos were a definite A+. We loved the finished job, the quality of their work and the ethics the company demonstrated.

Jerry was prompt and courteous. Because we wanted the work done quickly, he worked evenings and weekends around his other jobs to accommodate our schedule. We were very pleased with the quality of his work. He cleaned up after the job and disposed of all debris.

JERRY ONDO WAS VERY RELIABLE AND EASY TO CONTACT DURING THE PROJECT, AND THEIR WORK WAS GOOD. I WAS ESPECIALLY IMPRESSED WITH THEIR WORK TO FIX THE CEILING PLASTER - THEY REMOVED THE DAMAGED PLASTER AND RAN ALL THE FIXTURES IN THE BATHROOM ABOVE TO DETERMINE WHICH ONE WAS LEAKING. AFTER FIXING THE TUB (WHICH I WAS COMFORTABLE WITH SINCE THEY ALSO DO KITCHEN & BATHROOM REMODELING), THEY REPLACED THE WALLBOARD AND FIXED THE PLASTER SO THE PATCH IS INVISIBLE. ANOTHER WIN WAS THEIR WORK TO FIX A LARGE HOLE IN A DECORATIVE PILLAR - THEY WENT ABOVE AND BEYOND MY EXPECTATIONS, SCULPTING A PATCH THAT CLOSELY MATCHED THE PILLAR SURFACE. THE WORK TOOK A LITTLE BIT LONGER THAN ESTIMATED, BUT WE WERE HAPPY. THE DAY BEFORE THE LAST WORK DAY JERRY ASKED US TO REVIEW THE WORK AND MAKE A LIST OF ANY REMAINING PROBLEMS, WHICH WERE THEN FIXED. CLEAN-UP WAS ALSO VERY GOOD.
