The work was done very quickly and for a very reasonable price. We recommend this business highly and will use him in the future. This man seems very knowledgeable as far as all electronics go.? Although his business is on the second floor of very easy to find business on Murray Ave.,? there were several willing men who helped us carry our items up the rather steep stairs. We live in the Penn Hills area, but found this business very easily and it took us very little time to get there.
Description of Work: He repaired our VCR/DVD player which would not eject DVD's or tapes.? He repaired the turntable on our Crosley brand combination record player/tape/radio/C/D machine and the tape player on another Crosley combo machine we had.?

There was a bad plug on the back of the receiver which was repaired and everything else checked. Both speakers were bad. I forget the explanation of what was done, something about the interior materials. The turntable was a brand which can only be repaired by the manufacturer, but fortunately, it was only the plug which was bad and that was taken care of. The CD player needed a laser which was unavailable, but fortunately he had some units for sale and I was able to get a Kenwood for $50. There was also a Sony for $70. After the cassette deck was repaired, there was still a slight problem with the counter not working and that was promptly fixed at no additional charge. The receiver was $45, each speaker $35, the turntable plug $25 and the cassette deck $25. I have no idea of how prices for repairs like this run, but it seemed very reasonable to me. After the first item, he suggested I wait a bit as he had a backlog, but I said I'd bring it in and he could get to it when he could. Each item was ready within a couple to a few days.
Description of Work: All components of my stereo system had problems and each was promptly fixed.

We learned about the shop from Angie's. I made the mistake of calling first, and was discouraged when they said they had a lot of work commitments. I waited a couple weeks and simply brought the CD player to the shop, and they graciously accepted it for repair. I got a call a few days later that it was ready. I enjoyed a little chat with the owner when I picked it up. He said the laser unit had come loose, so he tightened it and lubricated a few places. I paid $35 (say what?!)...in cash to save him the nasty plastic charges small businesses are hit with. He said mine was a lovely unit, very well made years ago, and I was wise to keep it (I love to hear that kind of stuff). He opened his repair service to help keep these practical units out of the landfills. He added that the cheap stuff coming out of China these days is simply junk in comparison, and will not last. Also, way up there on the second floor lives a huge vinyl record shop. (Darn those dangling modifiers; I mean a huge shop, although the records are pretty large). I beat myself up on the spot for getting rid of hundreds of my old great records--I probably could have sold them now and retired early. Oh well, at least I can spin my CDs again, and I scored points big time with my wife. Happy listening.
Description of Work: Fixed our old, precious Pioneer music CD machine. It uses casettes that hold 6 CDs each, so it plays for a long time. It is easy to reload with another of our three cassettes, and it would be hard to replace. Spoiler alert to streamers: this funky second floor shop is not for you.

One drawback -- His business is located on the second floor and the steps leading up to the second floor are not well lighted and are steep, so be aware of that.
Description of Work: I had a very old radio/tv set repaired. Previously I had an old turntable repaired. He fixed the problem and returned the working TV/radio promptly. The turntable was fixed last year. I would take any electronics (old or new) to him for repair -- he is very good!
