I had the car towed to the Subaru dealer, where they did several hundred dollars worth of other work, useful or necessary or both. They put in new battery, checked alternator and starter, did not find any problem. Started every time, they said. I picked it up, and first night had identical starting problem. But intermittent problem allowed me to get it started. I drove home, and played with it. It started several times, but not every time. The next morning I drove it five blocks to Frick Park Service. Bob was outside, saw me pull in and turn the car off. He came over to see what was the problem. I tried starting it again, and again got the all lights lit, nothing at the starter. (I was pleased to see the problem present itself at his site- I hate it when an intermittent problem does not occur when the repairman is there!) Bob asked me to try to start it again, wouldn’t start. He asked me to push clutch all the way in; car started He said he thought the problem was the winter mat I had put on the driver’s side. It kept the clutch from depressing far enough to allow starting. He arranged mats so they were not blocking clutch. I thanked him, pleased I had no cost for the service. He said he was here to save me money, not make me spend it.
They are excellent. The place is very neat and clean and it is not like the other automotive places. What I like about them when you go there as a woman is that they explain everything. They are very courteous and they talk to you. I have been to some automotive places where they kind of talk down to you. They are very good. A lot of times I have asked them if I need something for my car since it is older and they have told me that I don’t need that. They take care of what needs to be done. They don’t try and oversell me anything. Their price is probably comparable compared to the other people. I would definitely use their services in the future too.
