I wish I had before and after pictures instead of just finished product.  He took a dark basement in an old house and created a wonderful living space. He used quality products and did things that were unexpected, like polishing the existing concrete floors to make them contemporary and beautiful.  He soundproofed the ceiling to the point that I have yet to hear a noise coming from the basement.  He relocated the laundry room and made it compact and more functional.  He helped me locate a display kitchen to use instead of purchasing a new one which saved me thousands.

My poor photography does not do the space justice.  He selected colors and came up with the idea of a knee wall in the existing glazed tile shower.  He put in egress windows both for safety and for light.  He moved so many wires and pipes from the ceiling, leaving only what pipers were necessary. He thought of every detail and did a stellar job.

I cannot recommend him enough.

Reading his reviews, I understand that he can sometimes be difficult to reach but once the project began he was dedicated to it. And as for the sometimes slow pace, I am completely willing to wait for this level of work.

Overall, the whole project went very well. Erik's estimate and proposal was the best of the 4 I collected. Previously, I had the walls drywalled & insulated and radiator heat installed. The house was built in 1929 and we did have the "Pittsburgh toilet"  tucked in a corner.  I wanted a full bath installed around the toilet, a finished ceiling with recessed lighting, new floor (we had concrete), creation of a laundry area  and a new paint job.   Erik did a wonderful job designing the bathroom to fit in the space we had allotted to it.  He and Braxton did all the demo on the bathroom area, breaking concrete, hauling out the old toilet, stationary tube, washer & dryer and removing old (original) pipes.  After that, Erik acted as a general contractor and had a plumber, electrician, drywaller, painter and floor installer come at various times to do their respective jobs.  I could not be more pleased with the result.  A dark, damp and unattractive space is bright ,warm and welcoming.    All of the independent contractors who came and worked were talented and expert.  They showed up when they said they were going to and the work performed was extremely high quality, they cleaned up after themselves and left the area ready for the next person.  Then, Erik & Braxton came in at the end to do the finish work - hanging doors, installing a new thermostat, installing baseboard , hooking up the new washer and dryer & installing a new hand rail.  This is an old house and there were  the old house problems - uneven floor, walls not plumb, old pipes.   Erik worked with us on design issues, changing things when necessary.  They also fixed my outside water faucet (which I had wanted to do for years) and that was an added bonus.  My furnace was enclosed& Erik fixed those doors which had been broken for years. He had many good ideas about small design areas which added up to big impact & increased value to the space.
'The only issue was - in the contract we signed the work was supposed to take a month - actually the job stretched out over the entire summer .  They started the beginning of June and didn't finish until the beginning of October.  I believe much of the delay was because the plumber, who did a really good job, was very busy and a lot of the work was done around his schedule.
Bottom line, Erik was affordable, talented, and even though the job took longer, we were very satisfied & pleased with the result,  I would definitely recommend him & would use again.

The project went very well. Erik helped me choose the right fencing material, both privacy and decorative. He was very innovative in coming up with a gating solution around the patio.  It is an awkward angle, but he made it work perfectly. He tied the privacy fence into some existing fence and made repairs to that fence. The removal of the old fence and the digging of the new posts was difficult, I think, in that the soil was very rocky. He suggested a stone wall since the grade was a bit steep between the privacy fence and the flagstone. As you can see from the photo, it is beautiful and matches the patio quite well. Erik has done many projects at my house and they have all turned out beautifully. He is also very busy so be patient in waiting for a call back, a proposal or to get on his schedule. It is well worth it.

He removed the existing concrete and it ended up being was much thicker than expected. This proved to be no problem to him and his crew.  It was excavated neatly and considerately, and the area was left in good condition at the end of each day. He framed the walk and was careful to blend the concretely asethetically into an adjoing brick walkway and other stairs that lead to the driveway. He even removed more bricks than was necessary on the sidewalk so that the transition was seamless.  The next concrete matches the existing walls and stairs wonderfully. I am very pleased with the finished product.

He was professional, thorough, and I was happy with him.  The only thing is I was not at home when he worked there.  I don’t have much comment on his pricing but from what I talked with other people at work they say that they found it reasonable.  I would use him again based on his service.  But I don’t think it was the best price that I could have gotten I feel it was not good enough that I would not look around.

We called many contractors, and after taking a short look, the message was always the same: the whole bathroom floor would need to torn out to get to the pipe, and it'll cost many thousands of dollars.
Erik, on the other hand, actually took a good hard look at the piping and determined that it could be fixed just through the access panel. He and his helper came and replaced all the drain piping in a day, and it worked!
Erik was extremely thoughtful and creative throughout everything, and I plan to use him for many jobs this summer!

When I moved into my current home, I had all of the master bathroom replaced except the shower because it seemed to be fine.  Well, it started leaking into the living room ceiling.  Erik replaced it with an amazing new shower.  The pictures tell the story.  He had me work with Emerald Art Glass for a perfect shower door and did really creative things with the mosaic tile.  I have a bench and a beautiful new shower that matches my existing bathroom.  The plaster repair he did in the living room is flawless. Read my previous reviews on his work. He knows what he is doing, charges a fair prices, and the work is superior.

Overall experience was again wonderful.  This is the second time I have used this contractor, although I am tardy in writing this review (third project prompted me to write it).  Erik and his helper removed really ugly railroad ties and replaced them with poured concrete retaining walls. In association with the walls project, he installed a lamp post.  He also did some other smaller concrete work that needed to be done.
His work is meticulous and matched exactly the other wall I was trying to match.  He stayed within budget and was responsive to any of my requests. I have an old house and all of the work he did matched the existing work very well.  He is easy to work with and leaves the work area neat and clean every day. His prices are competitive and I felt I got more than my money's worth.
I would be happy to be a reference for his work.

Our basement stairs were in very poor condition, there was inadequate lighting, and overall we felt they were dangerous. The stairs and supports were actually worse than we originally thought. We contacted Erik to replace them and add desperately needed lighting. He gave us an estimate and started working within a weeks time. Our stairs are now structurally safe with new support, safe treads, and great lighting.

We were very pleased with the entire process. Erik gave us an estimate and got the entire job done in a week. He and his crew left our basement very clean and organized -- it is better than when he started work. The stairs are sturdy, safe, and well lit. Overall, we are very pleased with Erik and his work. We will definitely use him again.

When I initially contacted Erik, I had only a vague idea of what was needed to accomplish my remodeling goals. Erik spent a great deal of time answering questions, helping me decide exactly what I wanted, and how I could get the most for my money. His patience was endless. He had excellent, innovative design ideas for the space and a good grasp of working within a budget.
Once work actually got under way, it became obvious that Erik makes an effort to keep himself current and was highly skilled in his field. He takes pride in his work and genuinely wants to please his clients. Definitely not an absentee contractor, Erik was on-site every day work was being performed and arranged for everything with no disruption to our household. He kept us informed with progress reports at the beginning and/or conclusion of each day. Whenever unexpected problems turned up (including a huge hornets nest behind the bedroom wall) he was able to deal with them quickly and effectively. He kept his work area clean, was on time and finished the job ahead of schedule. His work is meticulous.
Equally as important to me ? Erik is an extremely nice person. He is soft-spoken, well-mannered and pleasant, as are his employees. He was respectful of our property and of our privacy, and left the house a lot cleaner than he found it. I felt no uneasiness in leaving home unattended while work was being performed.
My project turned out even better than I thought it could be, and I hope to be utilizing Eric's expertise for all future contracting needs.

The job went very well.  The flooring was installed well in an existing 100 year old home which made for many challenges during the install since nothing in older homes is ever square.  When completely the flooring looks great and fits well around the existing fixtures for radiators and doors and staircases.

The final product of this work is great.  Erik custom made two polished concrete hearths for my home based on dimensions of existing hearths.  The previous hearths were hidden in existing flooring.  Erik perfectly cut holes and removed the existing hearths from the floors then measured and created two polished concrete hearths to replace them.
There were two new hearths were for two fireplaces on the first floor of my home.  One was a raised hearth that sits above the floor and matches perfectly with a raised fireplace that existed there.  The other was a hearth was installed flush with the existing flooring and fireplace.  Both of these hearths look amazing and are installed well.  They contrast well with the flooring Erik previously installed and they are an amazing complement to my home!
After installing the hearths Erik also helped assemble a previously purchased slate mantle on top of the flush hearth going above and beyond what was expected for the job.

Erik and his crew have proven to me to have the the experience and knowledge to handle a complicated addition that involved a series of steps that are above those in a typical two story addition.  My addition consisted of a great room with cathedral ceiling with multiple beam cuts and construction details, a basement/garage with a steel beam and cement driveway.  While I am somewhat knowledgeable about construction techniques, may assessment of Erik's ability was reinforced by others who have many more years of experience in the construction field.  In talking with the subcontractor  who handled the foundation excavation, he remarked that with over 30 years in the business he was so impressed with Erik's knowledge that he asked Erik for advice about a problem that he was having with his own home.  When the various building inspectors, foundation/electrical etc.,  toured the construction site there was one constant remark from all, about how well the project was being done
Erik and his crew also went the extra step to make sure that not only was the contracted portion of the job done right but that they also handled other problems that arose which were not part of the original contract.  I was impressed with Erik's ability to assess a situation and then come up with a solution the quickly and effectively solved the problem.  His depth of knowledge is far beyond his young age.
Erik, Brax, and Pat had to operate under some of the most severe weather conditions this winter.  They were working in winter temperatures with rain/snow and wind chill factors below zero.  i thought they were crazy but they showed up every day and did quality work in extreme circumstances.  On top of doing the construction work they made every effort to keep the construction area clean and the impact of the dirt and dust to a minimum.  As you might expect in the winter there was a lot of mud!!
I am planning on having other work done this summer and the first person I will be contacting is Erik Wingard.

Erik provided a very detailed written estimate (via email).  When we contacted Erik to do the job he was able to fit us in within a few days and got the job done in 2.5 days.  He was very professional, neat and careful in his work.  It is clear that Erik is highly skilled and knows what he is doing. The end result was wonderful.  We could not be more pleased.

,We got several bids, and frankly any one of them probably would have done a competent job.  Ultimately we decided to go with Mr. Wingard because he'd done work for us several years earlier and his professionalism and work ethic was outstanding.  The outcome matched our expectations and our neighbors comments were highly complimentary as well.

Erik was recommended to us by a friend in the construction business in 2008.  Since that time, he has completed 3 major projects and a few smaller jobs for us.  The addition of the bathroom, home office and HVAC to our third floor was the most recent project.

He is very knowledgeable about building materials, has great design ideas, and takes care of all the details.  We just gave him an overview of what we envisioned.  Erik was able to provide us with several design options.  He told us about the different materials that could be used and how it would look when finished.  He also gave us the pros and cons of each option.  He made great suggestions regarding innovative and environmentally responsible materials.  He kept us informed throughout the entire project.  Erik coordinated all of the subcontractors, dealt with permitting issues and inspectors as well.  He took care of all the details which made this a  very positive experience.

Erik is patient and flexible.  We made some change requests during the project and we also had a few delays for personal reasons.  He adapted his schedule to fit our needs.  He is  respectful of our home and our budget.  His crew is also patient and considerate.  They cleaned the area daily and kept the construction clutter to a minimum.

We would call him again for any project.  He is very easy to work with, we know the job will be done properly, and we have been very happy with the final results every time.

After beginning a remodeling project on an existing 2 story porch we were informed by our borough that, in order for it to meet building codes, we would have to first install a foundation beneath it, then undo most of the work we'd already done and have it professionally remodeled.  I wasn't sure it would even be possible to install a foundation under an existing structure and several contractors I contacted either declined the work or simply didn't bother to call back.  I sought the advice of a coworker who put me in touch with Erik who, not only took my call but arrived the same day to inspect the structure and give me some advice on exactly how much work would be involved to get the work done to the inspector's satisfaction.Since the existing structure was built on a concrete pad, Erik was able to build internal structural supports for the second floor which then made it possible for an excavator to be brought in to dig out the area under the first floor walls.  I should point out that they were also nice enough to use the dirt from the foundation area to level out a large portion of our sloped back yard and they even replaced the top soil and planted new grass.  Once this was done Erik and his assistant framed in the foundation wall and arranged for a cement truck to be brought in to pour the 3 walls of the foundation all at once.  Throughout this process Erik stayed in touch with our inspector, who was very strict in his requirements for the foundation, and followed his instructions to a T.  It was even necessary for him to jack up the first floor framing slightly in order to replace the 2x4s of the sole plate with ones that were pressure treated.  While he was at it he also inserted tar paper and a waterproof gasket between the new 2x4s and the existing cement pad, then he anchored the entire structure into the newly poured foundation to satisfy the inspector that the structure was correctly supported and anchored.  My wife and I were so impressed by his work that we immediately asked him to return and finish the rest of the work to bring our new addition up to code.  Erik agreed and promptly furnished us with a detailed estimate that did an excellent job of describing the work involved and how much each phase would cost.  He ended up reframing the vast majority of the structure, installing large bolts into the ledger board in order to anchor the structure firmly to the main structure of our house, removing all of the windows, framing and insulating them properly then re-installing them, re-applying the siding correctly, wiring both the internal and external outlets and installing all lights, a ceiling fan and 2 hydronic base board heaters (required by code).  Once that work was complete he and his assistants drywalled both rooms and removed the sliding glass doors that used to separate our old unheated porch from our living room on the second floor and installed trim to cover the transition between the drywall of the addition and our existing plaster walls in the living room.  Throughout this process Erik was always available to answer questions and provide guidance.  Both the electrical and building inspectors were impressed with his work as were we.  Because we were converting an existing unheated structure into livable space the process was a complicated one that required a lot of communication and ingenuity.  I'm happy to say that Erik and his assistants did an outstanding job and really saved my wife and I from a ton of misery!  If and when we ever decide to remodel again, Erik will be the first person we call.

The project involved:

- removing ill-placed door and replacing that space with a window
- removing a large window in a small room that used to be a porch but had been enclosed; replacing this window with a door with sidelights
- installing stairs from this new door to ground level
- finishing the space in this new mudroom including installing a heated floor, tiling, and generally finishing the space

Erik has a good sense of style; for example, he suggested that I use mahogany for the outside stairs and it took the stairs from being mundane to a focal point.  He recommended excellent products for both the door and window, and he always had a solution for a problem or situation I posed.  Most importantly, he's very technically knowledgeable.

Erik is also flexible and patient.  When I asked him to re-arrange the work plan that he had established, he did it without complaint.  During the project, I was fairly distracted by some other things, but he was reliable and kept things on track.  The finished project is exactly as I had envisioned, and Erik spent time on the details to make it that way.
