We have purchased a cook-top and dishwasher from Dormont Appliance and couldn't be happier! We had a bad experience with a department store who also sells appliances and so we decided to give Dormont Appliances a chance. We couldn't be happier with there salespeople, service and installation. They do EXACTLY what they say they will do. Don't shy away from them because you think you'll get a better deal from a big box store. In our case, they had a better deal AND much better service!!

Two very nice installers called before coming to deliver the washer and dryer and arrived within the parameters. They took time to see where the new appliances would go to ensure they had everything they needed, then efficiently proceeded to carry each unit into the basement and connect it properly. They also took time to ensure that each one worked.
Their conscientious effort is one reason that every new appliance I have ever owned has come from Dormont Appliance Center.

The experience was very good. The salesman took a lot of time with us and worked to get us manufacturer's discounts. Since we had not begun the remodeling project, Dormont held the appliances for us for about 2 months--we just asked the salesman, and it was done! Delivery was easy; the delivery men uncrated the appliances and checked each thoroughly on delivery.

I've bought several appliances from Dormont over the past few years. Their prices are generally competitive with or just slightly higher than the big box stores. Besides price, shopping locally and Dormont's high quality customer service from purchase to installation are the reasons I continue to return there.
The refrigerator installation presented a challenge to the delivery folks. My kitchen floor slopes and the refrigerator fits into a tight space. They were very competent and worked at leveling the refrigerator until I was satisfied with the results

We did it on the phone and they were helpful. The price was okay. It is a Whirlpool and it is less expensive than the one we had before. There is a place where you put the silver and the little plastic handle is already broken off. We don't need it but I really don't like the quality of the dishwasher much. It is okay but it is not great.

I needed replacement double ovens for my kitchen. I went to the Babcock Blvt. Dormont Appliances because they are convenient and they had the brands that I'd identified as desirable after doing some research. The salesman (Earl, I believe, was his name) was helpful and knew his stock well. Because the ovens had to fit the existing space exactly and my measurements weren't those of a "professional," I had to have them come and measure (for a fee, of course). Well, not them, but their contractor, who would also be the one to install. On the appointed day for the measuring, almost a week later, I waited... and waited... and waited. I finally called the store; my salesman wasn't available. It took several calls back and forth, and he finally called me to apologize -- he had faxed the appointment to the contractor, who hadn't gotten it and thus wasn't coming at all that day. Perhaps this salesman didn't realize that, here in the 21st century, we have telephones and e-mails with which we can verify information. It had clearly never occurred to him to follow up on his fax. I expressed my displeasure and insisted that the appointment be rescheduled for the next day, which it was. I felt sure that this would be a one-time failure and that when it came time to install the ovens, the contractor would be prompt. Imagine my surprise... the same thing happened; he'd failed to make the appointment. This time, Earl was unavailable. The woman who took my call was helpful and sympathetic, and I got the feeling that I wasn't the only customer Earl had disappointed. I suspect that Earl is someone's nephew or son-in-law and has the job just because he can sell -- not because he offers decent service. Reading other reviews on this site, I wonder if the scheduling problems other customers have had were the result of his lackadaisical approach to customer service.Also, please note that Dormont does not service the appliances it sells -- so if your unit has problems, you'll have to deal with the manufacturer or hire another company to service it. Not an ideal situation, and one I didn't realize existed until after I'd made my purchase. The ovens work fine, but that's not to the credit of Dormont Appliance.

We order the refriderator from the company. With the warrnaty and all it was going to cost $2000.00. I told them several times that I wanted a refrigerator that was made in the United States. They told me several times that the refridgerator was made in the United States. Our refriderator is currently not working so I needed them to send me the refrigerator fast. They said they would have it to me by June 24. I called them to what when my refridgerator was going to be shipped and they told me it was on back order until the end of July and that it was made in Mexico. We exchanged several calls and the company admitted fault. They tried to get to take a cheaper model and one that was made in mexico. I told them they should at least upgrade to a more expensive model that was made in the U.S. because it was there fault. They wouldnt do that and offered to sell me a more expensive refrigderator. Eventually, I decided to cancel the order. They told me that because of all the problems they wouldnt charge us the 25% restocking fee and that the contract was cancelled. They told me I was supposed to come on Wednesday to pick up my $500.00 deposit.

I purchased a new Maytag washer/dryer pair from the North Hills outlet of this provider. I wanted to spend my dollars at a local business. Prices as compared to the big box stores and internet merchants were very favorable. Sales representative was sufficiently knowledgable and courteous. There was a mix-up on the delivery date, but it was a minor inconvenience. Delivery personnel arrived within the slotted time. They were professional and courteous, but no more so than any other company, large or small. They hauled away the old machines at no charge. Overall, I was pleased with this buying experience, considering my primary motivation was to support a local business.

Our 30 year old freezer stopped working. Dormont Appliance Center was able to locate a new replacement freezer and have it quickly delivered. This was all done professionally and with excellent customer service. We have had similar outstanding service from them in the past and definitely will buy from them in the future.

My refrigerator started dying, and, as Dormont Appliances is close to my office, open late, and had received good reviews from Angie's List members, I stopped in. Bill took care of me, and, as a new refrigerator had to fit into a very restricted space, he was very careful to find a refrigerator that met my needs and space requirements. I also decided that, as long as I was there, I would replace my microwave and dishwasher - both old and iffy. Bill - again - was very interested in my needs and never tried to sell me "up." The refrigerator was installed by Dormont Appliance people, and I wasn't thrilled with them. They left all the tape on the refrigerator and the box sitting at the bottom of my front stairs. The installers for the microwave and dishwasher - an independent company - were excellent.

It was a good experience. I don't like shopping and was able to purchase and set up installation over the phone. The original day scheduled, they cancellend that day, but did reschedule for the next day. The installation was done quickly and was of good quality.

The sales manager John greeted us promptly when we arrived to price appliances. He spent a great deal of time with us answering numerous questions and quoted us a special price on the refrigerator (on his card). After looking at places like home depot, lowe's and sears, we came back to Dormont because of the selection, price and most importantly the ability to deal with someone who knows the appliances and cares about providing good service

Bill took the time to find me the perfect refrigerator for the space and features I needed. He went the exta mile. The delivery was scheduled and the workers showed up when they said they would. I would recommend Dormont Appliance. I was very pleased.

In the past, I also bought a cook top, microwave, and double oven from them. They were very helpful both times with making everything clear for me to understand. They helped me choose things as well as help me time things right. I was able to get my dryer at the time I wanted it. My dryer is so good. It dries everything in like 24 minutes. I think it has an extra motor in it or something. It is nice.

Dormont Appliance Center is a very responsive and reliable company. They brought our appliances on time and were very professional and courteous. They were also very careful in taking the appliances downstairs. We feel like we got a good deal on the appliances which were a stove, refrigerator, dishwasher an microwave.

The washing machine was full price, and we were told that if we paid full price for the dryer we would receive a $350 rebate for it on November 29, 2006. I have since contacted them 3 times within the last month and all they are telling me is that it's being processed. The washer and dryer work fine, but we probably wouldn't have bought it if we would have known we wouldn't get the rebate back for it.

ALTHOUGH GENERALLY SATISFIED WITH THE PURCHASED APPLIANCES, A FEW ASPECTS OF THE EXPERIENCE WERE LESS THAN IDEAL. REMOVAL OF PACKING MATERIALS/BOXES SHOULD BE PART OF THE PURCHASE IN MY OPINION. ALTHOUGH ID MADE ARRANGEMENTS FOR THEM TO MOVE THE OLD REFRIGERATOR TO THE BASEMENT, AT FIRST THE DELIVERY MAN SAID I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THAT. HE RELENTED WHEN I SHOWED THE SALES INVOICE THAT LISTED IT AS INCLUDED. HOWEVER, WHEN MOVING TO THE BASEMENT SOME OF THE HANDLE BROKE OFF--EVEN WITH ME STANDING THERE THE MOVERS ACTED AS IF NOTHING OCCURRED, ALTHOUGH I DID MENTION IT. THE NEW REFRIGERATOR WAS NOT LEVEL AND WAS SIGNIFICANTLY WOBBLING: I ASKED AND THE DELIVERY MAN BLAMED MY FLOOR. I HAD TO ASK HIM TO CHECK AGAIN: HE WAS ABLE TO ADJUST AND BALANCE IT. EXPERIENCE ON THE WHOLE WAS SIMPLY SATISFACTORY. I DONT THINK THAT I WOULD NECESSARILY RECOMMEND THEM OR DISCOURAGE SOMEONE FROM USING THEM. ON THE POSITIVE SIDE, I WAS GLAD TO PATRONIZE SOMEONE OTHER THAN THE LARGE CHAINS.
