I called Creative Silver and made an appointment to take my two silver candelabras to be restored after they had been damaged while moving. Moshe was very pleasant on the phone and I arranged to meet with him on the afternoon of Sunday, June 1st. I took the candelabras in and showed him all the damaged areas that needed repaired which included several dings and dents, a stripped thread where the base screwed onto the shaft, a bent arm, and a pretty serious tarnish from sitting in a box for some time. Moshe told me he could fix them, polish them, and would coat them with a lacquer to protect them once he was done. He informed me he charged $60 per hour and expected the job to take about 3 to 4 hours of work and it would be completed in about 3 weeks, to which I explained there was no rush. I paid $80 down and left the candelabras with him. In early August I get a call from Moshe informing me that the candelabras were ready for pickup and we arranged for me to stop by on Sunday, August 10th to get them. It took a little longer than 3 weeks (2 months), but I'm not complaining because I told him there was no rush. Upon arriving at Creative Silver, Moshe presented the restored candelabras to me and, while they had been polished and lacquered, most of the dings and dents remained. He explained that it was not possible to fix them due to the way they were constructed, but he failed to mention that point when I dropped them off. He was able to fix the threading and the bent arm, so at least the candelabras now stand up straight and are usable. I expected the total to come to about $160 based on the estimate Moshe had given me when I dropped them off and the $80 I had already put down, so I was shocked to hear him tell me that I owed him $270! I ended up paying $350 for what in my opinion was a pretty poor job and he had overshot his estimated time of work by 2 hours. Bottom line: He was very cordial, but the quality of work was lacking and the cost far exceeded his estimate.

I would use this firm again. Owner seemed to take a very caring approach overall. Only downsides were that when I called to followup a few weeks after leaving the items, he wasn't sure where they were (but he called me back to say he found them). And if I had been more experienced I would have said to stop repairing/polishing if engraved initials were going to be worn off--but that is my lack of experience, not his. Bent or damaged pieces were straightened out and smoothed very nicely.
Description of Work: Did a very thorough job at repairing several damaged pieces of silver flatware.

I received an antique menorah from a synagogue that closed. It stands at about two feet tall. It was severely damaged with dents and the finish was entirely gone. I loved the design but it was in poor shape. Moshe Pekkar of Creative Silver said that it could be refurbished. I was doubtful that it really could be done and that it would look nice. True to his word, it came out looking brand new. It has the appearance of a new piece that would otherwise cost a few thousand dollars. It was well worth the price.
Description of Work: Refurbished a large antique brass menorah that was in very poor condition. He repaired it and silver plated it. It came out perfect. It look brand new and has the appearance of a piece worth many thousands of dollars.
