Everything went well. Mike contacted me with some possible dates in advance and then we agreed upon a date based on weather and my schedule. The job took an entire day as planned. He came back to meet the inspector and took care of some other small electrical jobs very efficiently. Was pleased with the service he provided and felt the price was fair.

The outlet needed to be in a corner opposite the corner where the breaker box was. Wiring was done cleanly, and cleanup after was good.

It was tricky routing the cable from one end of the basement to the other throught the basement ceiling, but it was done! He even cleaned after himself meticulously.

We bought a late 50s house with 100A service and the original pushmatic electrical box, which had started to rust inside. I emailed the home inspection to Mike and we had a good conversation over the phone, during which he talked me through the details and a potential complication (tree, wires). The estimate was reasonable, and, compared to other electricians I talked to, he spent more time asking about details that would need to be addressed.
It ended up taking about two months from our initial conversation to actually have the work done, which he said was because of Duquesne Light dragging their feet. I wasn't really in a hurry anyway. (My home insurance company, on the other hand, ...)
The upgrade itself was well done. The service mast and panel were cleanly mounted, and the internal wiring of the panel was laid out neatly, as was the inside run of the ground wire around the garage and into the basement (water main). All debris was cleaned up afterwards. He handled the coordination with Duquesne Light to run new service entrance wires and for the final inspection.
I'll definitely look him up the next time I need an electrician.

when I first called him, he suggested that I check to see if I had a reset buttton with my light switch. I did that but no reset and called him back 2 days later and he worked me into his schedule that day.

Mike came quickly when we we moved into our house and found water in our electrical panel. He got a good laugh over the absolute knotty mess of knob and tube wiring (with open splices to romex in the walls!!!) that we bought into, and has diligently - and patiently - worked for several years now to help us upgrade our electrical service (from the street), and all of our wiring. We are planning to hire him (and only him!) soon to do the last bit of wiring.

(I had used Copper Dog Electric for a faulty Kitchen Light that needed a new ballast. Results were good so I called them again for this next problem) Called and left message on Copper Dog Electric answering machine. Mike called me back the next day (it was a weekend, I believe) and set an appointment for mid-day today. He called about 2 p.m. today and said he would be here in 10-15 minutes. - showed up on time and set right to work. Located and checked out the doorbell transformer (I think it is a transformer; I was not even aware of its existence, much less its location and function). Replaced a broken wire between that and the chimes. Then checked out the "flaky" flourescent shop-lights. Since they went on fine when he put in new bulbs, there was nothing more to do at that point. If problems continue, they might need new ballasts. Everything was working when he left.

Our initial planned work did not include any new receptacles. We were so happy with our experience working with Mike Banfield on the first day's work that we asked about some of the other opportunities to improve our house and decided to add about ten new receptacles in our 90-year-old home. Mike was patient and helpful in explaining the work he was doing and some of the options that we had when we asked about some other ideas we had. The most challenging work that he did was diagnosing and correcting a troublesome second-story circuit that was not grounded, despite all the receptacles having three-prong outlets and wiring that included a ground. Mike was able to locate a point in the attic where the newer cable switched to knob-and-tube before entering the circuit. What made it trickier is that the knob-and-tube must have been spliced back to the better wiring inside the walls with no box, which Mike had to work around. The new receptacles are great. In two cases there was minor cosmetic damage to the walls next to the new receptacles that came when cutting out the openings. Mike fixed these up before we even saw them so that they just require a bit of paint. In one case I don't think we would have even noticed if Mike hadn't made a point of letting us know about it. We have been extremely happy with all the changes.

Monday, 3/24 we noticed that the electrical line had pulled away from our house. We called the electric company to fix it. The electric company came out and fixed it but they said that our weatherhead had broken and that we would need to call and electrician to replace it. We choose this company from Angie's List. He called back the same day. Made sure that we weren't in any immediate need and came out four days later. We have some future electrical work that we want done and we will call him back to do it.

It went very well. Mr. Banfield listened to my descriptions of the problems, checked out the lines, to analyze the exact problems, and installed the replacement items. He communicated what he was doing and answered all my questions, but concentrated on the work and not a lot of irrelevant talk or standing around. He had all his tools and ladder with him. including the ballast, but did have to go to acquire the proper replacement socket for our old hallway ceiling light. He told me in my initial phone call what his hourly rate would be ($35), so there were no surprises nor disappointments about the price - which I felt was a very fair one. He indicated probable time he would be here, called in the morning to confirm that probable time, and called again when he was finished with his prior job and on his way.

Mike spent a half hour for free assessing the condition of the original lights and wiring and made recommendations. After I had the lights restored, he cut new wall boxes into the brick and installed the lights. He came back a second day to correct the wiring on a security light that was not functioning. Very nice guy and cleaned up after the job.

I got two other estimates for the job and Copper Dog Electric came back with the best price. Mike also actually took measurements, had good suggestions and explained the process. The others only spent five minutes walking through the house. During the work, Mike was so helpful and had great suggestions. I recommend him to everyone that needs electrical work done.

Six different electrical contractors were 'interviewed' for this job and Mike from Copper Dog asked us more questions than the other 5 combined. As homeowners, our biggest problem was that we didn't (always) know what we wanted - two or three rows of recessed lights, number of outlets on this wall or that, location of switches, etc. We were acting as our own General Contractor and Copper Dog helped us make informed decisions about the 100s of choices present in a large job like ours. Since working with us, Mike has become something of a family friend. He's also been recommended to and used by friends and neighbors that are always looking for an honest, hardworking, AND reasonably-priced electrician.

He arrived 15 minutes earlier than planned. He had all the necessary tools needed to perform the job. He pulled the old wiring from the wall, connected it to the new doorbell, drilled holes in the brick to screw the doorbell in place. He then tested the bell and was done. I mentioned that I needed my motion detector adjusted. He grabbed his ladder from his truck, climbed up the ladder and made the necessary adjustment. He was gone within an hour.

It went very well. He came when he said he would, was able to do everything we asked for and his estimate was accurate.

Everything went extremely smooth with Mike. He's very professional, does fantastic work and is extremely trustworthy. There was additional work that I was told needed to be done by another contractor and when Mike came to my house for my quote, he let me know that the work didn't need to really be done. Not only is Mike trustworthy, but he saved me a good deal of money based on quotes I received from other contractors. My only complain with Mike is that he is in such high demand it takes a bit longer to get your work scheduled. But a short wait is worth it. Mike is a great electrician. I will for sure be working with him again.

Mike responded within 24 hours to my email and scheduled a time for the estimate. When he was unavoidably detained, he called to let me know the reason and when to expect him. He was prompt, courteous, neat, and professional in all of the work he did for us. His estimate was a bit low, but we did add on a few extra things once he got here, so I am happy with his estimating. I would hire him again without hesitation.

Overall, it went very well. Mike Banfield, now Copper Dog Electric, returned my call promptly and agreed to visit the house before we said "yes" to work being done. On the day he provided the estimate, he was running a bit late and called ahead to inform me. We had been living without a stove top for two weeks, so I appreciated that he was able to perform the work within a week! Mike arrived promptly on the day of service and went straight to work. He was courteous, knowledgeable, professional, and did a great job of cleaning up. I am very happy with the service and he will be first on my list to call if I need additional electrical work.

Mike is punctual and thorough. He met with us to give us an estimate of the work that needed to be done, why it needed to be done and how much it would cost. He was on budget, on time and tidy. Would hire him again in a second!
