know this price didn't include a written contract. When I inquired about a contract I was told that would cost more. Since they started
removing the old driveway I was kinda stuck. Because he was giving me a cash price it wasn't going through the company. I gave Tom Rabb $650.00 to get started. I was never given the price for a written contract because he really didn't want to give me one. I asked how thick the asphalt was going to be, I was told 2 inches before compacting. I told Tom that wasn't thick enough, he assured
me that it was. I told Mr. Rabb that I had to go to the bank to get the rest of the money $625.00 he said he would take a check. Only
if it was made out to Tom Rabb not to Classic Asphalt. Since I am disabled and receive Social Security Disability price was of utmost
importance. Two days after the work was done certain parts of the driveway started to sink in. I called Mr.Rabb about my concerns,
he came back a couple of days later to inspect his work. Mr. Rabb was very courteous as he explained that if I wanted a perfect job
that would be more money, and that no water would get underneath the asphalt. He made me feel as though my concerns were not valid. I asked Tom Rabb how much it would cost to satisfy my problems. I received not a direct answer. Now classic Asphalt is
supposed to return before the winter snow arrives to add a sealer to the driveway. Since I don't have a contract he really doesn't
have to show up. Now my driveway is starting to get as bumpy as the old asphalt I don't know what to do, did I waste $1275.00. I hope I don't have to redo my driveway, because I cannot afford it right now. This was my first time using this service. All that I have
to show that I had any dealings with Classic Asphalt in a business card with no company address, and a bank envelope with a hand
written receipt that shows $650.00 cash down payment and a balance of $625.00 paid in full by check # 2867 on 8/5/2013 not signed by Tom Rabb just initialed T.A.R. Tom Rabb said that I was satisfied with the job he didn't have to return to finish the job,he wanted payment when he finished. Tom Rabb didn't even use two inches of asphalt. He used 3/4 inch asphalt which is not satisfactory standards. When his son returned one month later to seal the driveway, my complaint was duly noted. A new complaint resolver was supposed to reopen my claim. I have not heard from your complaint department in two months please contact me by phone. This contractor is not a fair dealer!
"There is no issue to be resolved. Given the simple driveway straight into a garage with no turn-around. I listened to the customer who was a veteran. On on disability. We gave a quality job with adequate material for a fair price. The customer made the final payment satified with the product. Went back as discussed sealcoated the driveway and again the customer was satisfied."
Good job.
Two phone attempts made and after the last attempt we were contacted, unfortuately we were out purchasing supplies for inside house projects and the gentlmen stop by to evailuate the property. He inform my husband the driveway was a mess (no kidding), he refuse to write up and estimate and leave it, he said only if we choose to go with his company will he provide one. Well we are still in the market for a contractor....next!
Got the feeling that he was busy with work closer to his home base and couldn't be bothered to "travel" to my area to even look at a potential future job. Recommend that he shouldn't list our area as being within our range of service with Angie's List--this was a waste of time and effort and I wouldn't have bothered if he weren't on the list of those willing to work in our area. Disappointed.
"Sorry to disapoint Member. In reference to the spiritual principle, honesty, had nothing to do with location. Customer indicated she had acquired 2 bids far apart in price. I wanted to come to her house in a few weeks not to acquire the job, just to give her a better understanding whom to go with. She nicely decline my offer. Depending on work load, We do service the Wexford area. That you for your understanding."
