Mostly, it went okay. I had to take it back to have some work tweaked, but things seem to be going okay.

Went well. Did a pre-investigation and drive to verify that there was a problem in the transmission. Gave us an initial estimate. Called immediately upon opening the tranny and gave a firm price for the work, minus the taxes. Very close to the initial estimate. Parts were obtained and work was completed within 7 working day. Everything went well. Been driving it since and it appears everything was fixed properly.

The car's transmission split in half and it leaked all of the fluid. They rebuild the transmission. There price was cheaper than any of the places that I got quotes from. The only down side was that it took them two weeks to do the job. However, I understand that is par for the course for how long it takes to rebuild a transmission. Unlike other providers they tried to re use parts of my existing transmission rather than replace the entire thing. This saved a lot of money.

Our van started to make a horrible noise after we returned from vacation, so we looked on Angie's list and found Budget Transmission of Pittsburgh. They looked over the van for free (dropped the pan) then it was determined we had a catastrophic failure it was $199 to disassemble the transmission to lean the extent. It turned out that the transmission needed to be rebuilt because of the amount of damage. The price for the rebuild including diagnostic fee came to a total of $1,675. I was relieved because I have read stories of shops charging $2,500 plus. The guys were direct and honest and I felt I could trust them, which came into play. Like most older vehicles things have aged and after the transmission was installed I started to have trouble with the shifter and I was worried, but the guys stood behind their work and went back through the van till they found the problem. A wire to the transmission had become frail over time, and could not with stand the removal of the transmission and broke. They found and replaced the wire at no cost to me and now the van is running smoother then when it was new. Thank you

great, the manager scheduled an appointment for me, took me immediately when I showed up, drove my vehicle and then said it was fine, the whole evaluation took atleast 30 minutes and he did not charge me a dime, which would have cost atleast $75 at many other places and usually a whole morning waiting.

I found Budget Transmission through a coupon for a $195 transmission evaluation. The Kia Sportage has a transmission light indicator that wouldn't shut off. After the evaluation I was given an estimate of around $1500 for a new transmission. I didn't want to spend that much and so I said for them to put the transmission back together. The worker continued to push me about getting a new transmission but I said no. Then he said considering it will cost around $600 to put the transmission back in I might as well get a new one. The coupon I used stated the evaluation would cost $195 and nothing about any additional cost to put it back together. With no choice I said to put the transmission back in. Then the worker said he could check if there was a used transmission available which would be cheaper. He did find a used one with about 50,000 miles on it which would cost $800. With an additional cost of $200 I decided to have the used transmission put in. I had an additional expense of $250 for replacing rusted transmission fluid lines. The work was completed about a week later then estimated.
In going there I was willing to spend $195 to find out what was causing the indicator light to stay on. After the evaluation I would then consider if I wanted to spend any additional money on a repair. If I had known from the beginning that even with the coupon I had to spend $600 to get the transmission evaluated and put back in, I would never have had any work done.
I gave a F grade for professionalism because their front counter and waiting areas were cluttered with used car parts and very dirty.

We called several repair garages that did transmissions, but they only did automatic transmissions not standard transmissions. They are hard to find. Called Budget Transmission from Angie's List and he said they work on standard transmissions. They would rebuild or put new one in. They had the truck for about 3 weeks, had to get parts but if it was done right we did not mind. When we went to pick it up it ran wonderful, and still does today. We would recommend this company to anyone. Great job. The price was fair for all the work that was done.

I have 1997 Subaru Outback which had an engine failure, followed shortly by a transmission failure that I found after I had the engine replaced. Since I had just invested a pretty good amount of money in the engine, I really wanted the transmission to be fixed too. I spoke with Jim and he had the car picked upp and brought to his shop to look at the transmission problem. This car is the family and quot;grocery getterand quot;, and we have more than enough other vehicles to drive, so letting them work on it in a way that allowed them to accomodate other customers who needed their cars back faster was not an issue for us. They still managed to locate the parts and provide the experttise to accomplish a top-notch rebuild of my 13 year old car's all wheel drive transmission in about a week.Jim also went over the entire running gear associated with the drive line and told be that it was in pretty good shape. This car has a lot of miles on it, but it has been a Great little car for us, and we want to keep it going for quite a while longer. Thanks to the Nice people at Budget Transmission, we will be able to do just that. These guys have rebuilt a transmission for us in the past for a car that we no longer own, a 1998 Dodge Avenger. That thing was physically broken at around 37,000 miles, which placed it out of the factory warranty. The guys rebuilt that one in a couple days because at the time, it was my wife's daily driver.
These people are very knowledgeable, experienced, and nice to deal with. I will not go anywhere else for transmission work.

Jim at Budget explained they replace the transmission parts that need to be replaced rather than installing a re-built transmission. Certain parts, e.g., clutch, are always replaced as part of this maintenance. When I compared this cost with having the transmission replaced, there was a difference of a couple of thousand dollars. The job was done on that basis. It took several visits to identify all the parts that needed to be replaced. A leak would show up from time to time. There was never a time we could not use the van as the leaks were small. Eventually there was no leak and now the transmission drives fine.

They called me the next day with an estimate, it was a lot of money but I don't think it was unusual to have the transmission rebuilt. He had it done in two days. He called back to let me know it was ready to be picked up. I went to pick it up and it was done as he said, no extra charge. I thought that was rare and refreshing when it has anything to do with automobiles. As a result of that I took my second car there that also needed transmission work. He again quoted a price over the phone, then I took it in and waited for him to do it. It was done in less time then he thought, he did the work for what he said he would - no additional costs. It was very professional.

I had the common symptoms in my 540i's ZF transmission. Intermittent reverse, loud whining, and sporadic "TRANSMISSION PROGRAM" messages on my dashboard. It was time to get it fixed. I narrowed my choices down to two transmission repair shops. I called Budget Transmission and explained to Jim that I was having terrible transmission problems despite having my BMW's transmission serviced regularly. Jim named intermittent reverse, loud whining, and the warning messages as symptoms common to this model transmission which is used by several other import and domestic car manufacturers. After several minutes on the phone It became quite apparent to me that Jim knew transmissions and, quite possibly, even loved his job. I had chosen my repair shop. I called back to schedule an appointment, talk ballpark prices, and discuss a time table. I dropped off my car and was asked how soon I needed the car back because the shop was very busy. I was not in a hurry and told them I could wait as long as it was top notch rebuild. I was assured that top notch rebuilds are all the only type of rebuilds they do! I received a few phone calls regarding the status of my repair and one stating that they found a damaged part on the bottom of my car that was in need of replacement and also that said part was available for my inspection should I so desire. I did stop by the shop and talked to a couple more mechanics that were happy to explain what was going on with my car. The day came to pickup my car and I realized, after driving a few miles, that my tranmsision never shifted as problem free as it does now. New life was breathed into her it seemed! Several months later I had these guys inspect my transmission to make sure everything was up to par. They obliged, kept my car, checked out my transmission, road tested it, and reported back that everything was in good shape.
