We used them, maybe, three years ago. They were professional and had high quality. I was impressed with their workmanship and honesty. That's a big thing with them; they are very honest. That's why we keep going back to them. They are very honest and fair.
I never mentioned that I had inspected the system or that I thought I knew the problem and the cost of the part. I just said that there was a new noise under the car. Sure enough, after he had examined the car, he said the flex pipe was leaking and his estimate for replacement was spot on. I then agreed to let him fix it and he provided me a ride back home.
When Jim called me to tell me that the car was finished, the price was the same as his quote. He then asked me if I needed a ride back to his shop. When I got there he brought out the old part and showed me the damage and explained the the remainder of the exhaust was in good condition. He also saw a check engine light on the dash and said that it was a Tranny Temp Sensor and not related to the exhaust system.
The car ran like new on the trip home, quite as a mouse. I found that every step of the process was conducted professionally and fairly. I will definitely return for future service and I have already recommended this shop to family and friends. I am also glad that I joined Angie's List.
Jim and Ellen were extremely friendly from the start. They have a problem that most business owners wish they had - too much business from an excellent reputation. Getting in is the only hard part of getting your service done here, but it's worth the wait to schedule in advance for routine maintenance. If you had a big unexpected problem and were a regular customer, I have a feeling Jim would go out of his way to take care of you. They are trying to acquire a larger garage to help meet the demand, but that's not an overnight endeavor.
Their price was extremely fair and the service performed was real, i.e. no $100 glances at a fluid or component. I will concede many dealers have higher overhead that affects their pricing, but there is a limit of what I will absorb and the service level has to be there also. Day wasn't cutting it, but we've gone out of our way to go to Pittsburgh East Nissan for years because of the level of service they provide. Jim might steal their business even though they've been good to us simply because it's getting harder and harder to find time to make the drive to Monroeville for service.
I'm very happy with the experience and Jim seems to keep up a modern shop making it unlikely he couldn't work on something because he didn't have the right equipment, etc. If that were the case, he would just tell you and send you somewhere that could help. Conversely if you had a really old classic that was beyond him, he'd just tell you.
Another glowing review is only going to make Jim's "problem" of too much business worse, but if you own a commercial property suitable for a service garage you might have a buyer as well as a great mechanic to turn to.
