Ben's Landscaping

We ran into Ben when he was hired as a sub on our deck project to install a 20' French drain and a short retaining wall on the side of our house. We were impressed with the quality of the work and he and his helper's good attitude. When it came time to get bids on the landscaping work we wanted, our deck builder strongly recommended Ben and we included Ben along with three other bidders.
Ben met his appointment schedule to meet with us and discuss the project. We wanted a low maintenance but attractive landscaping. Our house is a corner lot which means we have two front yards, one on each street.
Of all the bidders we met with, Ben heard our needs most clearly. He spent time understanding what we wanted and what we actually meant. He returned and gave us a complete proposal and actually marked out his proposal on the lawn. We tweaked the design a couple of times and Ben submitted a final project cost. He was several $1,000 dollars lower that the other bids after all bidders hand been given the same final design.
We were flexible in our schedule which is always helpful to a smaller landscaper. He and his crew arrived on time, accepted our big lumbering Newfoundland as part of the job and moved the project quickly to completion (about 4 1/2 days). He is currently starting of the final part of the work, a 16x20 paver patio and a paved entrance to a new storage room we created as part of the deck project earlier. He expects to start on September 28 and take 4 days. He has a hardscaper who he works with on projects with stone work.
The job to date looks great and we expect to be well pleased with the final results
