 + -1 moreconcrete cracked the first winter and moved and damaged other areas. I've tried for 4 years to get him to remedy. A lot of promises, but no action.

 + -1 moreI had to email this company twice just to get them to come out for an estimate. He came out, measured, etc. There were several projects I wanted prices on so when he called me and I said, "I've got a bunch of numbers for you" I said, please email them to me. He agreed. That was the last I heard from them. I have called many times. No voicemail. Why kind of company doesn't have voicemail. I have emailed. Finally last week I received an email with an apology saying she (Stefany) would email the prices to me and that she had been off a few days. Today I called twice - no answer, no voice mail. I am done. Find a different concrete company. This one stinks and they haven't even poured a drop of concrete.

 + -1 moreMy wife and I hired John Marzina/Battaglia Construction to replace a leaning driveway retaining wall with stone facing to match our other side driveway retaining wall. He came and removed the existing wall and replaced it with a concrete block wall. We paid him $3,000.00 of the agreed $4.,500.00 realizing he had to purchase the stone for the completion of the project. He left the job unfinished and would not return phone calls. After numerous phone call messages left by my wife, I called him and left a message that if it was a matter of adjusting the agreed amount, let me know. No response. As of May 14, 2014 we never herd back from him. Wall still unfinished. Other contractors are not sure whether they will assume any warranty on John's work since they did not do the original concrete block wall and they don't know how good the drainage was done. I t appears we may end up paying twice for the same project since other contractors may not use the existing concrete block wall. Get a firm in writting contract with completion dates and cost with this guy. Buyer Beware... Anyone who lives in our area can stop by and take a look.. It's the same as he left it almost two years ago.

Description of Work: We had them pour a 750 sq ft stamped concrete patio in our backyard, and it turned out superbly! John provided an estimate the day after I called him (they had poured a concrete driveway in our previous house), they started the day they said they would, worked diligently to complete the work, and John made certain that all along the way that I was happy with the quality and progress of the work. I would hire them again without hesitation!

Description of Work: John Marzina came and gave me an estimate to fix a driveway that the water compay damaged when doing street work. He talked with Mr. Evanovich at PAWC and they came to an agreement to fix the driveway and he was to send the bill to him. I also wanted a sidewalk placed around the house. It was to go from the front walk to the back patio and he said he could get it all done by Oct 2010. October 2010 came and went and he promised I would be first done in spring of 2011. Excuse after excuse was given and finally sidewalk was partially done. His working crew stopped at the gate and it left a big ridge, trip and fall hazard. He said he would fix it when he did the driveway. The rest of 2011 went by and not done. The spring of 2012 came and he gave an excuse all his trucks were in the shop, the next time we spoke he said he was doing a job right around the corner on Vernon Drive and they would be over the end of next week. A couple more phone calls and excuses now he is not returning any phone messages at all. It has been 2 years from initial estimate and it is extremely frustrating. My mistake was paying him for the sidewalk. Now I have the sidewalk to nowhere and I had to buy some stones at Lowes to fill in the void to prevent people from falling. If you consider using him get it in writing. He apparently does not answer his cell phone anymore and everything goes to voicemail. His father in law put the origianal driveway and wall in and he was absolutely the best. I am sorry he passed away because John does not live up to the standards of his father in law. Update 9/6/12:This is actually an adendum to my first report. Still no response from John and filed a BBB report. He did not respond to their letters or calls so I am changing my grade to an F. I found Foreman landscaping to finish the job and they are top notch. I highly recomend them.Foreman Tree and Landscape company. They get 5 stars by me.

 + -1 moreCame to property for initial meeting. I showed him what I wanted to have done. He told me he'd have me an estimate within the week. After not hearing from him for close to 2 weeks, and a few messages left by me, he called me with his estimate. His price sounded good, but when I asked him for it in writing, he explained that there would be no need for that. He explained that his reputation was everything and he's been working in this community for years and that we wouldn't need a written estimate. Because I had heard that they were a good company and that they had been around for a long time, I aquiessed and agreed to the estimate. He explained that he would be able to do the work by mid october. October came and went. November came and went. 2011 came and went. I never heard from him again. I ended up contracting Rullo Construction to do the work. I recomend Rullo.
Description of Work: I was looking for removal of asphalt driveway and a new concrete driveway, tear down existing stone walls and excavate to widen driveway then rebuild walls.

 + -1 moreFrom the time the job was bid to completion the experience was very good. John answered every question and even called me to keep me informed of set backs (due to rain). I had several special requests such as for them to put pvc piping through the concrete for future landscape lighting wires and for them to save the old rod iron railings. John sleved the railing for me so it could be removed in the future and accommodated me with pvc. He did not charge me extra and was more than willing to offer helpful suggestions.
Description of Work: Removed old concrete and poured new steps and sidewalk.

 + -1 moreWORKERS WERE POLITE. CLEANED UP DEBRIS WHEN WORK COMPLETED. PRICE WAS COMPETITIVE WITH OTHER ESTIMATES, BUT QUALITY WAS BETTER. RECOMMENDED BY OTHER CUSTOMERS. JOB TOOK LONGER TO COMPLETE THAN EXPECTED DUE TO RAIN ON MULTIPLE DAYS.
Description of Work: REMOVED SLAB SIDEWALK. POURED NEW CONCRETE SIDEWALK AND STEPS.
