I had my entire roof redone by John Kelly several years ago. The first problem with this contractor is that he left a huge mess of old roof material in my attic. It took many phone calls and about a year's time to finally get them back to the house to work on cleanup. In the mean time, I continued to have a leak every time there was a big rainstorm. I still have that leak! John came back once or twice to check on it. Several times, it took many UNANSWERED phone messages to reach him. He finally told me it was a siding issue so I actually offered to PAY him to fix the problem. Last year, he put me off saying it would have to wait until the spring. He never answered my phone calls alll last spring and is still not answering them. So, I get about a bucket of water in my kitchen with every major rain and I paid over $7000 for a new roof. I have actually PLEADED with him to at least give me the courtesy of a return call so he could explain the problem and I could hire someone else.
Description of Work: Replaced entire roof. Left debris in attic that was not removed for about a year and only after many phone calls. I am still having problems with rain dripping in my kitchen ceiling. Whether it is a roofing issue or a different issue, my many phone calls were not returned!

Response from J D KELLY CONTRACTOR
This is the type person who is the classic example of when you go above and beyond to help, they will never be satisfied or happy.. First off I started work to remove shingles and discovered all the plywood had to be replaced. It was like newspaper. she cried about being a single mom with no money, so i replaced about 60 sheets of plywood for nothing. All trash and debris was removed from her property. I would never go into someones home without them being there, not even their attic. She called me months later when she saw some debris in her attic. I told her it would be taken care of at a more comfortable time to be in an attic. This was no problem to her. I took out less than one trashback full of newspaper like plywood shavings. She then proceeds to have her house powerwashed and as a result, all caulking, some siding pieces and metal around windows were damaged or missing. She called me after a rain, long since her roof was completed about a leak. I went directly there to see what was cause of water in her kitchen. I could see siding was pryed and found a piece actually missing. I flashed with metal to divert any potential water. Siding was improperly installed after someone attempted a reapir and the upper bedroom window is leaking behind the siding. I physically showed her and photographed it. Gave her a price to reside and re-cap the side of her home. She told me it was an expense she couldn't handle. She now proceeds to maliciously insist her roof is leaking. Her roof is 21/2 stories high, no leaks in attic, bedroom ceilings or walls. Even a simple minded person could conclude the leak is somewhere lower. This roof was approximatwly 2700 sq ft. It actually cost me to do this job when all was said and done, and now this false and malicious accusation on this forum. I am in the process of what MY legal recourse is. We also fixed some issues in her attic when we cleaned it at no charge , She didn't as much as offer us a glass of water, or a thank you. I offered to meet any contractor there to affirm where water is entering her house, she still has not accepted. I will tell them and show photos. I would have gladly taken the job, but she is a school teacher, i know they don't teach for free, as I won't. I have done over 100 jobs since this without an issue, establishing friends, great customers and always referrals to others. I take great offense to this lie.
